You could consider making fences under the bodywork to stop air going into/out of the wheel arches. Most people don't both with this, as it's not "cool looking" for their mates to stare at in pub car parks, but in practice it's just as important as the splitter itself. You can make them out of stiff rubber sheet so they can flex out of the way if the car heels over too much to cause rubbage. As usual the closer to the ground you can get them the better and consequently non viable on a road car, otherwise I would have made some myself years ago. :(

GL.

It's all going to be a working progress
So should be adding editions to it as time goes on

The splitter is 100mm of the ground when car is stationary

I still think under heavy braking the car could touch the ground, despite the heavy springs there is a lot of movement under cornering and braking and even acceleration.

Sounds familiar! I've always got something or some mini project to do on it, but so long as it's drivable 95% of the time I'm happy.

Got the front struts on
I may of mis drilled one of them in the wood looks a bit out

But it's a lot more solid than it was and tested to 110 at the moment without issues

On the down side I couldent but get down the drive forwards I had to reverse down and then it stil just caught it slightly

It's also on the jack so looks odd

I've measured the wing angles,

The centre piece of the wing is 7 degrees and the outside edges is 10 degrees

Had to remove the front splitter before/during lunch as it tried to make a escape for freedom as the pace started building
Actual snapped the front strut supports

I did have some understeer in the car all afternoon so gutted about not being able to test splitter in dry

Aero loads ad speed can be quite scary and need quite sturdy hardware to resist.. Add some nice bumps and vibrations and peak loads on fasteners go to silly levels.

Also the reason why people usually attach splitter bars and such to the crashbox with reinforcement plates to stop nuts from pulling through GRP and the like.

Bye, Arno.

That's a good sign, once you get it strapped on tight you are going to really notice it. :)

Haha, I was thinking how could it possibly be 4 seconds faster than the video showed :)

Nice driving, you seem to have smoothed off the inputs and it's clearly making you quicker thumbsup

Great work on the splitter and spoiler Chris.

Makes the car look serious!!

Only flicked through the improvements but can you make some adjustable metal brackets to bolt the splitter to some metal on the front end somewhere?

Might be worth speaking to Mark @ BYC, he could make you some up?

Here are his for the mx5 as an example;

Not really been under the front of a vx but I'm sure there must be somewhere!

This car is going to be so mega with aero.
