Finally got the subframe off
I have not been very motivated and really struggled to drag my self to the car

Had a trip to Nottingham today and picked up a 4.17 gearbox

Subframe is welded up so im ready to start building the rear end back up

And it looks like I can weld some box section between the two section close to where the wishbones go

Was the splits in the subframe a result of the crash or from years of heavy track use?

Nothing to do with crash
It's all wear and tare and probably happened quicker due to track work

But don't think the subframe is just moving in that direction to cause the split

did you use an alignment tool on the clutch or just go for it?

 

no complaints about my helix , done over 100,000 on it

You can feel the paddles at the back so line them up evenly with the fly wheel edge
Also looked through the spline gap and it looks bang on
