Give it some good use. Sell it to chill :poke:

It's got a use. It's become an integral part of the garage now and has become my official battery charging station for all of my cordless tools. There's three different battery chargers on top of it, for the three different brands of charger and batteries I have (really need to bin them all and settle on a DeWalt or similar range). More seriously though, except for the coil packs which I need to pick up from Joe, I now have every component needed for a full on LSJ + HPTuners conversion with some additional upgraded goodies in the head. Just the motivation that is sadly lacking since I grew to hate the car. That's the stupid thing, I got this engine to solve most of my hatred of it but, the memory of my hatred for the upgraded Z22SE has meant I've had no motivation to get on with the swap. It's a paradox. :beat:
If I had your old engine it might be some more motivation

Additionally, I'm sure if you were able to get a shot in a car thats had such a conversion (Exmantaa's for example), you might gain the motivation. However, given that you'll be the first one in your neck of the woods, thats unlikely to happen!

I have most of the bits now too (including coil packs, but not the bits I sold you  oh and an engine - ironically the easiet bit to source) but the wiring and mapping stuff scares me much...

Yep, me too. I look at the OBDTuner setup and think "damn, that's so easy to do" and then look at the HPT stuff and think "hmmmmmm, easier than a regular Z22SE ecu but....". Luckily, I've got Monkfish Performance quite local who know HPTuners from all of their supercharged Monaro/VXR8/Corvette stuff, so think it may get pushed across to them to refine any mapping. Only other HPT guy I've spoken to was up in Scarborough or somewhere like that.

Just a little update after the national, I turned the engine down just to be safe Car ran very well with the exception of the gearbox breather coming off twice, The new Gaz gold shocks are ten times better than the old ones, would of been nice to play with shock settings but didn't have time because of gearbox issue Here is a video of my first session I quickly found the limits of the car which I was happy about as I found my self to cautious when I went to snetterton, The next step in the project will be to get the car setup properly (geo) The car was mighty on the brakes,

I've been cleaning all the shitty gearbox oil from everywhere today, Also the gear change has gone a little stiff they all go in fine just stiffer than before, Joe and lee indicated at the national it will need new cables, bar humbugs Anyway hoping they last until winter when the next stage of modding starts. I'm also going to drain the gearbox oil and measure how much is actually in there Am I right in thinking there should be 2 litres??

Should be 1.75L IIRC, but suggested that you should overfill slightly, so once fully drained (well, as much as you can), 2x 1L bottles is about right I'd say.

OBD-Tuner for Z22SE and HPTuners for the LSJ ecu work quite similar. Only with the LSJ you have to do some tasks on your own, instead of the OBD software doing it for you, but that also gives you somewhat more flexibliity. LSJ has (lots of) extra tables to tinker with, if you know what you're doing.

HPTuners works with a seperate ECU Editor and a powerfull Scanner. If the scanner is set-up right for your engine, it's a matter of f.i. logging your wideband % error, copy this logged AFR %error table and multiply the %error onto the ecu fuelling table.

But as is also discovered with OBD, the ability to tinker with it makes you wanting for more.

@ Chill; Buy a good 2.0 engine; do some exh. porting on the head, fit decent cams (not the saab L/E turbo's. The R version is ok) with uprated springs. Get a lighter C20XE/LET pot-type flywheel and you have a nice revvy engine that very easily gets to 7600+ rpms and should hold around 350HP on stock internals. thumbsup

The inserts make a difference, regardless of how soft thumbsup You'll feel more vibration in the cabin now. Decided on yellow rather than "Black" performance ones?

I was offered yellow ones do i've fitted it but might be tempted by black ones after some reviews

Don't need to be stiffer if you look at the function of them, which is to fill the air gaps n the inserts and therefore add greater resistance to movement of the mounts. What they could really do with is large washers on each side to pack the mounts in properly.

In the long run I would like to replace my mounts with the vibra technics offerings, but they do cost much more than standard.
