You said not lag ago that you'd never go stage 3, you'll have a harrop before the years out. ;)

I'm going to have to rather do some grovelling to wife or do some saving up first, My engine us nearly 12 years old 65k miles and on original chain It seems daft to spend money on that when I can have a brand new engine.

Chill, you might as well go the whole hog and get comp cams. You're going to want super tech springs also to get that high rev range. Do you think we could get something off these engines if one of us said we wanted 3-4?

I think you should ask the question, lets face it nobody on here will want the inlet and exhaust manifolds so they might do a deal for 3 or 4 engines. I know there are at least three people considering buying one and if the price was right I might buy one for a spare

Ill send a message to the seller. I could also collect them all and deliver them to the vocky workshop to save on postage cost? I'm sure you've got space for them Neil. ;)

Thumbs upright might be worth mentioning on z22se to Mr vocky would you please break down the full cost for me in a PM if you like I could always get in on GB if it saves money but I might just have to buy the parts then save up more for installation,

Not if you change the crank to the z22se one

Would be very curious to this one.

So far i have only seen external trigger wheels to use z22se ecu.

Swapping the crank with the trigger over would be so much nicer. (if posible)

Yes I can understand that it is cheaper if replacing every item and then sell the z22se engine afterwards. But a lot of those items will probably be fine. Vocky are you sure the Wiseco std bore pistons drop straight in on a new engine? If so why don't people just get the block honed and fit the std bore pistons?

Would be better in long run as I will have a new engine, Mine is old requires work chains etc possible water and oil pump Probably not worth pushing this engine any more than I already have

Hello I'm contacting you on behalf of my car enthusiast forum. We are looking to purchase potentially 4-5 new Saab B207 engines. We would not be after the inlet and exhaust manifold as these engines are to be used for our type of kit car. If they need to be sold with the engines however then so be it. With the above taken into consideration, would you be able to offer some discount on each unit? There is the potential to have even more sales if this transaction goes ahead with no issue. Thank you for your time. Regards Mr Monkey

Yes it would be nice to have the reliability of a brand new engine. But all getting very expensive for 30bhp, £1000 per 10 bhp sounds like N/A tuning. Unless this is all leading to a Harrop?

It's 3k for a new standard z22se from stealers Was planning on doing a other 20 k miles on my engine over the next 3 years before upgrading, It might take me that long to save up for all the bit for the Saab lump It would be ready for a harrop It's annoyed me that I have had to turn my engine down to save it plus I could sell the z22se motor the way it is if I have a engine ready to go in Just waiting for a final estimate to convert to Saab lump from vocky

I would love to know what the std pistons would take SC. We know they failed at 300bhp with NOS but this is much harder on internals. Anyone know of a piston failure? What will the std Saab internals take? Assume they are better than the std Z22se.

I still think it was Joe's piston that failed first and not a rod on his spectacular engine failure at 270bhp

Rods and crank are definitely better.

Every Saab tuner I've spoken to has said the pistons in the B207 need upgrading over 320bhp (in a turbo setup anyway). Doesn't entirely match with the experience of the LSJ guys but we've no idea if they're actually the same pistons on both, or whether they're just the same dimensions. Though that does tie in with GM's component failure mode chart.

And why it gets totally nuts when you start aiming at 400bhp.

Which we are all pushing by running 260isch with an extra 30 parasitic loss of the SC.

Without blowing anything up, and thrashing them on the track.

Or stick at 300 or less with the std Saab engine. I have to agree 250-260 is the sweet spot. Anything else becomes a money pit but a lot of fun to drive i bet.

Preferred mine at 260bhp rather than the 300bhp it is now. But looking back, most of the time I preferred it as a 185bhp NA. Was certainly a much more rewarding drive on track, even with the Supershits/TMS map (oh how I wish OBDTuner had been available back then - would love to have seen what that could have done).

It's hard to go back though. It's a similar situation with the car market as a whole, they were more fun with less power and actual connections to the engine and chassis, but if anyone made something like that now everyone would complain that it's underpowered and unrefined.
