I believe they retain the crank shaft, so if you are converting to 2.2 L then you will need to remove them.

More interested in splitting the block and crankcase At the moment Is it just a case of giving it a goods prising open Or do the black crank retainers need moving to split block and crankcase

you need to remove twenty of the bolts with a 15mm head and ten of the 13mm head bolts

 

Basically all the bolts visible when the engine is upside down 

 

Then use a large screwdriver or small crowbar and lever off the lower crank carrier

Cheers Arno The donor engine will be scrap unless anyone wants any bits from it. Will they be similar to the b207 engine

Been to MK today to have my bits fettled by vocky I've never seen someone strip a engine down so quick ( I did help a little ) The saab engine now has balancer delete Forged pistons and rods All necessary blanks and stops Ported polished head 2.2 crank ( which was in great condition cheers john) Big thanks today to vocky for letting me watch him at work,

I agree Vocky certainly knows his stuff. How far are you along now before if goes back in? What's your plans for flywheel and clutch?

Need a lightened flywheel, and cams which I'm getting from ZZP hopefully in the Black Friday sale Picking up a 6 paddle clutch tomorrow morning Then need to do the timing and engine is back together Need to sort extra plug near water pipe

Thinking of getting a TTV from Courtenay with new clutch and slave then ready to install. Just need to rob a bank to pay for it all.

Yes always difficult when running up to Christmas Think I will be getting cams before Christmas if they come up on the sale and the rest will be after Christmas and hopefully will have it all up and running be got march
