You would be crazy to go anywhere other than Blink Motorsport for a geo see as it's on our doorstep.

Chris I have the mintex 1144 and find them fine with enough stopping power for my car.

Mintex 1144 were reasonable at 300 BHP, but even RC6 is not good enough beyond 350 BHP IMO. The brakes on the car were never intended for serious stopping from high speeds IMO. Just my 2p worth.

Mintex 1144 would not last a whole trackday I managed to get through 4/5 of a set if 1155 at croft earlier in the month

I must make a start this week,

Lots to do and the national is coming

1. Change engine oil and filter,
2. Brake fluid
3. Brake pads ( 1155 are not up to the job ) and I loved these once
4. Need new rear tires
5. Would like to get geo done but don't think it will be done before national ohh and get new toe links fitted

Delivery arrived today so I really should make a start,

My brakes were awful for ages after fitting braided hoses. Biggest mistake i've made, other than buying a VX in the first place! Get a vacuum bleeder.

Just means it's designed to be used in cars with DPFs too, it's reached the same performance level as the A/B specs.

Brakes are okay now, but took me ages to sort them out. Made no difference too.

I was seconds away from ordering some of these. My fluid overheats on track days and this seems to be a well thought of help for that. My existing hoses are probably as old as the car. Can you expand a bit on the problems you encountered? Would you just replace like for like if you could do it again?

The problem is changing hoses can introduce a lot of air into the system. A good trick is to attach the hose to the calliper then push the pistons back. This back fills the hose with fluid. I didn't bother doing this and like Fez had crap feeling brakes for months.

I've been on track hard braking for over 40 minutes and not had an ounce of brake fade. Another bonus for still having NA power. Will put some cooling ducts in when I get round to it though.

I've got NA power which is why it concerns me. Not sure it's the pads (RS14s) just everything seems to get really hot hence me considering these hoses. The fluid boils (changed it yesterday). The fronts were smoking heavily after a session at the recent Croft day so had to go back out and cool them down properly.

Sorry if this is spamming Chills thread, but hopefully it will be of some use.

What fluid are you using? I wonder if your brakes are dragging, causing the extra heat. I use halfords Racing fluid, standard disks, braided lines and RC6 pads.

I really don't think there's any added cooling to be had by switching to braided, as they are then covered in plastic. The rest of the pipe work is metal so you have some cooling effect there, best way to protect against the fluid boiling is regular changes. My issues were all to do with actually changing the hoses, it introduced so much air into the system, especially the 2 pot calipers, that they felt awful for ages. It took lots of pressure bleeding and hitting with mallets just to get the car usable. I honestly think that braided hoses only show up old hoses when they have started to perish, mine were okay and would be a similar condition to yours '51 plate and 80 odd thousand miles when I changed them.

Braided hoses are there to stop the brakelines expanding so the oil is directed directly to the caliper rather than expanding the pipe. Im pretty sure they dont cool better tho.. I find my cl5+'s just on the edges of dying after hitting them hard for 25 mins.. I first noticed it at donny so i installed some brake cooling ducts and that cured it for croft but after a while i could start to feel that hard glazed pedal starting to return.. My next choice is a higher temp pad from cl, or a different make altogether... I like cl, they feel nice and wear extremely well.. Or maybe they are just old and knackered.. Still have 10mm of pad left after 6 trackdays and 3 years of driving..

That is really good wear rates. How are they are brake dust? In answer to Zoobeef - Pagid RS14s all round, Halfords Racing dot 4 fluid, standard plain discs. Hopefully my fluid change will help. And yes, I def have some issues with the calipers not releasing properly, handbrake related I think. Taking it to Phoenix Motorsport for 8am tomorrow to get it sorted before my 1000 mile round trip.
