I think it is a simple as some engines "breathe" more heavily than others when tweaked. If not then mine has been fubared for the past 10 years

Yes I see. As for SC'd cars I still remain to be convinced the PCV is of any help at all to the problems we have. As soon as there is any boost, it'll be shut and so just the same in that scenario as if it were blocked off. It only does anything at small throttle openings where it pulls crankcase vapours via the valve, and air is drawn into the cam breather. As soon as it shuts the flow on the cam breather reverts to being outward and it's back to square one. Anyway lets see what chill finds on the tests.

The way I hope this is going to work Under low load the crank pressure goes through the valve and in to the inlet manifold and out through exhaust, Under high load (boost) Valve closes pressure continues up the channels to the cam cover through the inlet system then through charger, then inlet manifold and out through exhaust, What I'm hoping will happen on full boost that the vacuum from butterfly being opened will bring gasses out quicker leaving the oil behind just sending the gasses through charger, inlet manifold to exhaust If the oil does come with the gasses to the inlet I will use catch tank with something to slow down the oil to leave it in catch tank, This is what I'm thinking in my head it could be far from what's happening or going to happen But I have to start somewhere and this is the plan and hypothesis All depends on how good the separators in the cam cover are if this will work

I am on the same as Mr Chill with PCV open on the B207 but with a catch tank between cam cover and inlet. Did a few hours of track, and still need to check the tank.   May do that this evening B)
Let me no the results, do you have a separator ??

No seperator. Tank was empty.

I do need to do a few more trackdays though. August 1 Zandvoort is a full day, which should give more info.

Sounds promising Did you have a diffrent arrangement before which gave you a issue like mine ??

Yes, smal filter on the catch tank, instead of back into inlet pipe.

Same as you. Tank filled pretty quick, and filter drowned with oil.

This positive pressure thingy is sounding positive for now :)

(preliminairy conslusion, as i need to do more track miles)

Also the first trackday (well hours) ever i did, without having to top up oil afterwards. :o

If chris_uk's bottle is airtight to the hose, it could explain the same(isch) result.

Well I've done over hundreds miles today with all types of driving and there isn't a drop of oil in the air inlet filter side and no oil on the butterfly or after the butterfly, nothing conclusive yet but I'm going to angelsey on the 6 th July so hopefully there won't be any there either

I'm quite happy to give them a clean every winter if it relieves my crank pressure

Interesting this. Await to see what happens at Anglesey. I suppose if there's any significant oil going back into your intake the exhaust will smoke as its burnt? If there's anyone following you on the day maybe they can watch out for any sign of that. Have you got any oil separator or catch between the cam breather and inlet at the moment Chill - or is it currently straight in?

For the cost of a basic oil catch tank it must be worth adding a cheap, one even if it's just to make it easy to monitor whats happening without having to pull the intake off every time?

Or just use a small bottle like chris_uk did if it's just for an experiment.

Just make sure the hose seals the bottle neck to make it air tight.

I bought a catch tank but was encouraged not to use as it would probably condensate and collect water So I went all out without it If nothing appears in my inlet at angelsey I will very happy If I get a little film of oil in the inlet I will be happy If there is streaks of oil everywhere I will be putting the catch tank in with a scourer type thing to separate oil
