Hi, this may seem a little pointless but it's driving me crazy. My precious VX220 has a really unusual wiper blade arm. The arm does not have a hook on it, it is flat with a screw hole. Does anyone know where I can get a wiper to fit this arm? I'm happy to post a pic if required. Thanks K.

I think I'm right in saying this is an earlier VX then? They changed the wiper arm at one point, or people converted to the elise S2 one...

Yes mate, 2001. I could do with keeping the cost down (seriously have a lot to do on it), can I get the wiper from anywhere? In brief I need to - service, MOT, Cam Belt, two new tyres, sort our an engine fault, replace the speakers and tax the car.

You'd be able to get a wiper from somewhere, but I've never had to... Always had the hook arm type, I'm sure someone will come along and point you in the right direction shortly.

Quick fix would be just a replacement blade (just the rubber bits) and use your original fitting. A stealer will charge you over £30 for a full replacement wiper, I stupidly asked a good few years back.

I have a Y reg and have the hook type...and looking through the recipts of the car it doesnt seem to have been replaced in its ownership - seems they were luck of the draw on 2001 models

The EP arm and a cheap tesco blade is the same price as getting the funcky VX-ONLY-SPECIFIC-POINTLESSLY-OVER-ENGINEERED-AND-YET-STILL-UTTER-SHITE-WIPER-BLADE (VOSPOEAYSUSWB for short) from a stealership. thumbsup

hi if its a 2001 I assume it is an NA no cam belt chain driven and not desperate unless its rattling in start up or noisey makers say good for 100 000 miles but I wouldn't risk it

It's an Elise S1 wiper arm / part.

As mentioned, 3 courses of action, either:
Buy an Elise S1/Vx220 wiper blade
Or
For roughly the same cost, buy and Elise S2 wiper arm and fit a generic blade.
Or
Bodge job a new piece of rubber in.

If you go for option 2, the blade will be pennies to replace next time around.

Personally, both our cars have s2 arms on them.

Swapped my wiper arm for the later Elise/Exige arm & the lotus wiper blade. Didn't cost much more than the later type genuine Vauxhall blade on it's own! Vauxhall had changed the supplier, the blade was really poor & at £20+... Lotus arm & blade £25ish inch longer blade & does better job than original. Replacement lotus blade less than £10.

Hi lads

Sorry for reviving an old thread, thought this info could be useful for some one else.

I was struggling also to find a replacement blade for my Speedster, as it uses the S1 system with pin, so checked the Elise forum and they use the following:

Bosch SP23

This blade has a hole that is exactly the same diameter as the S1 pin, then if needed you just slightly drill the centre pin of the Bosch blade (its like a rivet, so just a few spins and you can poke it through) and youre done.

I hope this helps someone else out also, I have done it on mine and works fine, bought on Amazon so there is availability.

Drive safe!
