Hi folks,

My Blue Book is over at my parents, and trying to work out what I might need to buy/replace on my Saxo to race it this season. Bit confused over MSA vs FIA regs, been way too long since had to check any of this stuff.
  • Seats do have dates but does the seat actual expire, or this an FIA date for international events?
  • Race suit has a manufacturer date and needs to be FIA 8856-2000 for circuit racing. IIRC dirty or damaged suits can be refused but otherwise do not expire?
  • My fuel cell FIA eligibility has expired, but again wanted to check this is only applicable for international events and am ok for a national race series?

Fingers crossed that my harness is in date, could really do without spending too much more money.

I can't see anything about expiry on the suit, it just has to meet the right standards.

Not sure on 2 or 3 but for club level rallying seats do have an expiry date. The exception is if the car was logbooked before 2009 and has expired seats, the seats will expire at the end of 2013 2013 blue book here: http://www.msauk.org...sp?article=1158

Thanks, forgot it was on the MSA site. Can't find anything about seat date expiry, guess it's on the label itself? Can't recall what the labels/stickers look like.

Everything I have read suggests seats are valid for 5 years from manufacturer date stamp for FIA, for MSA so long as mounted correctly and the required standard they are fine and do not expire. Likewise I'm pretty sure race suits are FIA 8856-2000 for circuit racing and do not expire, at some point might be superseded and then will need replacement. Fuel cell appears to be the same, no expiry for MSA, only FIA. If so, I am a happy boy.
