Cleaned up lenses
Cleaned inside headlights
Never again!! Wouldn't recommend it unless really needed to. Taking the lenses off is really simple to do and no damage at all if taking care, 5 minutes each side with a hair dryer and knife. Putting lenses back on trying to get them in the right place so they sit right in the clam is a nightmare, took ages to get it right. I used double sided tape like smiley and black silicone around the edge. It does look like they will stay on i just hope they dont leak

Surely the lenses only fit back one way??
You've got me worried now as I'm halfway through this.
Think he means just getting the headlights in the clam. I've just sealed and fitted mine this morning and its always a bit of a wiggle to get my passenger side in for some reason. Guess VXs weren't built with the best of tolerences .

You should worry. It's a mm job on the underside of the light. (especially on the passengerside when vx220).
It had me stumped for 3 years why i had very bad alignment.
Previous owner had them split and sprayed NA to tubby. Allignment on clam at left was shite, right slightly shite.
I bought another complete set of light, that had also been sprayed black. Alignment was also shite on left, and slightly shite on right.
Started to think i had a very poorly repaired clam, as shirley it can't be those lights......
Shirley was wrong..... it was the headlights.
Got my hands on another pair of stock NA lights..... fits like a glove on both sides. WTF
The underside of the lense needs to allign with the underside of the headlight EXACTLY right.
As you see, it's for the trained eye only.
Even with this information i got it wrong last time i did that F*ing left one.
Very frustrating.

Yeah its a nightmare to get them perfect. I used double sided foam tape and tried guessing loads of times trying to get the lense even all the way round... Took the headlight to the car and the lense would be touching the clam and about to scrape if i pushed in anymore so i took the lense off, put the headlights in as normal them put the lense on when the headlights were in position... Even then its still hard as you got to have the headlights in perfect
So did you put the headlights in the car and line up the lenses with double sided tape, carefully remove lights then seal/bond with sealant/adhesive and reinstall for the perfect fit?
