In order to have a sh*t-fight, someone has to bring the sh*t and that always seems to be you.

yea, must be me

after all, who would ever want to know any other views on stuff? (that costs money etc).

Well overdue IMO

2 egos getting too big

If it comes over as Ego, then for that I apologise.

As this is not my product, it is CF's, I'm not sure how it could be considered ego related?

What I object to is comments from someone who has a long history of mudding waters for his own ends, re the SELOC comment, comments on products of which he knows little about (by his own admission in terms of failing to answering any technical questions put to him about the products)

He makes several assumptions about the installation all which are incorrect, but then wishes to be considered as an "expert" even a “guru”

that's not funny, it's hilarious!

Do you think it acceptable that all this should go unchallenged?

It's like watching children at nursery school arguing who gets to play with the toy car on the mat. Neither makes a compelling nor informative arguement, both end up coming full circle on their point and make the same one over and over again with no actual real-world facts and figures to back anything up just based solely on the opinion of who is right and wiho is wrong. One way or the other and it ultimately descends into fisty cuffs and both children being placed on the naughty step for the remainder of the afternoon. I still note that despite being given the option of proving that you can turn and "ordinary" road car into a mean-racing-machine has not been taken up Scuffers.... I think you should both just drop it. Yes - Car set up is important for lap time Yes - Car set up is important for feel and confidence No - There is one set up that suits everyone OP - The only way to find out what works best for you is (unfortunately) to try lots of combinations until one feels just "right". Then you will be able to extract the most out of the car the YOU feel comfortable with. This thread is boring. Yawn

I couldn't remember what I had typed before. Some of it is present, some of it is less.... forceful than before  Is that the only reason the thread was unlocked?  p.s. Thought I was on Facebook again :beat:

where?

unless your suggesting I work for free and pay for all the parts too?

Think you will find I am already doing that this year with Mikes car (at EP's expense).

No - There is one set up that suits everyone

If that was the case then all F1 cars would be setup the same, but they aren't. They change them to suit the drivers.

There are two clear schools of thought and neither are wrong; it is clear in this case that there is a difference of opinion and that is perfectly acceptable. The CF set up does not suit me and that is that; I prefer the stiffer springs to control the ride and the ARB to control the roll. That does not make the CF set up wrong for others. @ SteveA. Lets do an honest back to back, you car vs my car at a track and compare data. We just need an independent driver. That would answer a few questions I guess as we are about level on power. The OP is looking to improve his track day handling without a huge spend and replacing everything; the answer to his need is an uprated front ARB, shock refurb and more than likely stiffer springs.

Look, this may come over as a somewhat bold claim, but I bet I can take just about any VX and with some basic work, make it not only go faster, but a whole lot easier to drive, the idea that the perfect car setup for a racing driver is un-drivable for a mear mortal (in the context of road based cars) is mostly phewi, a well setup car is the easiest one to get the times out of.

Put your money where your mouth is... my N/A sits idle. I am doing Silverstone on the 25th. I'll do the track day. Then you come and pick it up with a trailer. Make it awesome on track. I'll come and get it and do Silverstone again and will write a throughly unbiased report.

All expenses payable by your good self. :)

Here you go :)

OK, you pay for the parts and the workshop time, I'll set it up.

Oh, and before we start, I need to have some idea of what target your aiming for (or what race regs it needs to fit).

No race regs, and no cost. I am giving you the opportunity to build an example of what most people are looking for here. At the end of the day maybe 5% of the people here race their cars. 60% probably track them. You are claiming that you can build a competitive well set up on the track car that is useable everyday. I am asking you to prove it. If you want extra credibility, and to back up your "bold claim", you can get a lowly fairly unmodified NA to be competitive on the track and useable everyday. I am offering that opportunity that is all. Unless I have mis-understood your claim?

Just one quick question though, what's an anti roll bar ?
