Steve did a 1'20 ish at anglesey, Mike did a 1'14 ish at the same track That a 6 second difference which is not soley down to arb's. therefore that test is rendered useless immediatly. Whats the point in all this anyway... There are way too many variables to take into consideration to give an answer. Its like anything really.. Why remap at courtenays over mmg? why get your geo done by bot or pheonix? why a turbo over na? why supercharger over turbo? Why nitrons over gaz? Etc etc.. They are all questions with no correct answer only an opinion and you choose whichever suits you best. Some are easier to choose than others but you choose whatever for your own reasons.. Rather than saying is a rarb better or worse why not think about what a rarb does and the see if its what you want.

@ SteveA. Lets do an honest back to back, you car vs my car at a track and compare data. We just need an independent driver. That would answer a few questions I guess as we are about level on power.

I think your car now falls into the same category as Jamies (a purpose built race car, with aero, 120kg less weight etc). If the OP buys an EP bar I'm happy to do the testing back to back with him as the cars will be very closely matched (almost exactly)

I can get a proper unbiased racing driver but we will have to pay him for his time.

Also you've probably got another 50bhp on me too :)

No race regs, and no cost.

I am giving you the opportunity to build an example of what most people are looking for here. At the end of the day maybe 5% of the people here race their cars. 60% probably track them.

You are claiming that you can build a competitive well set up on the track car that is useable everyday. I am asking you to prove it. If you want extra credibility, and to back up your "bold claim", you can get a lowly fairly unmodified NA to be competitive on the track and useable everyday. I am offering that opportunity that is all. Unless I have mis-understood your claim?

You seem to be suggesting that I owe you free parts/work?

If I wanted to build up a car like you suggest, I would do it to a car I own.

Why would I pay to improve your car?

(and I do have a VX road car to work with already)

In fairness its not exactly hard to take a standard vx and make it competative whilst still retaining a decent road manor. I did it with mine.. Steve has done it with his. Plus a number of others.. If anyone on here (bar the pros) could drive either of them to even near the limits ill be inpressed.

Have to agree with Scuffers here. It just sounds like you are trying to get your NA done up for free Robin. I'm not sure what it will prove to anyone else or that anyone else is that bothered about your challenge.

I'm sick of this, I've just put my ARB in the bin so I'm not even tempted to look in this thread by association. Need a horse burger to cheer myself up now

 I would pay for it if I wanted it.

I'm saying this is what need to be done if he wants the credibility he's asking for. Afterwards he could put it back how it was to be honest. I am very happy with it as is and do not feel the need for any of these bits. I was offering him the opportunity of the use of the car and an independant driver to add weight to his claims. I have no interest in keeping the parts.

:)

So whats the point in directing this at scuffers? I could make your car handle better.. His credability wont change as its such an easy task to complete..

What will give him credability is the following.

Mikes results from this years time attack, i have all the data from last year and the only thing thats changed this year is all the stuff scuffers has put on and setup.. If the car is faster than last year it gives scuffers some credability.

True Chris. Just thinking that myself after I typed the post. The point I was making is that the car was to remain acceptable for use on a B road as well as a track which is what the OP was after all those pages ago... Also Scuffers, I am not saying you owe me anything. :) On the contrary I was meerly giving you an option prove your claim and let your work do the talking, as I am in no doubt that all of you know your stuff and the only way to prove you can Rumba is to dance.

Personally i think the level of tuning scuffers does is past that of being acceptable on the normal road.. I drive mikes car last year in scotland and fcuk me it was bad.. I actually think id of been faster in my diesel vectra.. If its even more track orientated now... I dread to think whats its like on the road.. You cant have excellent track and excellent road mannors... Its one or the other. The owner just has to decide how far the compromises go.

this will surprise you then....

before we put Mikes car in the trailer for Cadwell, I took it down the roads round EP, and even at the heights it's at etc. (splitter is some 60mm from the floor) it's actually pretty good, no crashing/banging/jolting, never bottomed out, in fact the only issue was the mud on the road from Farmer Giles tractor (hence his splitter being somewhat mud covered!)

Now, I am not about to suggest that the ultimate track setup will be terrific on the road, but if done right, it's not going to be totally horrible either.
