I just read all of that S2K build thread.

Not sure what to comment really, must be frustrating racing against something/body with such a big budget in a small series.

There was a Eurospec customer who spent £100k

Wrote an essay there but decided against posting it. The conclusion was (for me) that somebody at TA needs to take a long hard look at the class structure. HEL have obviously thrown a bucket load on that car. If that uneven playfield continues:- A/. people wont bother watching the lower classes and B/. teams with a sub 100k budget (it must be close to that in the S2K) wont bother to enter

that's kind of the norm on motorsport though...

yes, it's not ideal, but it's like this from F1 down to club racing, nothing you can do about it, if people want to spend money, they will.

to my mind, it's more satisfying to beet bigger budget entries with a cheap plastic car....

When Cliffie spanks him we will all be cheering. Just makes you wonder why the 'big boys' (other than you/Jamie) don't bother with Loti as base cars - it is always a Banzai motor.

Scuffers has already said it, but the first rule of motorsport is that someone has more money than you and is prepared to spend it. Motorsport is nothing more than a giant money burning exercise, more speed or more prestige = more money.

Think the distinction is that HEL are an Automotive company that have had a car professionally built and have hired a professional driver. Shouldn't really be a club entry IMO. Pro all the way.

The manager of my local garage used to run a team of Sierra Cosworth racing cars. His way of describing the experience was that it was more expensive than drugs and just as addictive. I had spent about £2,000 modding my old Z3 and felt that was quite a lot of money. He said that 2 grand would be barely enough for a new clutch for one of his race cars!

That would be due to being a mass market of these Banzai cars to sell their parts/services too...

Time Attack is traditionally a Banzai jobby. Origin is Japan. There is a train of thought I keep hearing that a lotus tub is kinda cheating.

Interesting - I wonder how much of the money spent on the S2K has just taken it to a level with the VX, especially in terms of chassis stiffness?!

I would hazard a guess along the lines that Lotus 7 type vehicles are not permitted and that the Lotus tub is of a similar design principle - ie a Kitcar, but just with a 'car' bodyshell.

Briefly.

That's why I was questioning it. Nothing particularly unusual about the construction of the VX these days.
