Glad your both ok, the car can be replaced you can't. Just put your feet up and take it easy, the bruises and aches will take a few days to come out fully.

Just looking at that picture. Where the hell is the front wheel!? And I cant see an airbag? Surely it went off?

It was about three meters away, to the back and the left of the car as it is photoed. The airbag did go off, I remember seeing it as I came around the corner.

Bloody scary, the more I think about it in my head the more alien it is. Glad everyone was okay.

Edit: the hub section had separated from the wheel, so it was just the outer part of the spokes.

As a total aside here (I'm still glad you're both in one piece after that) Are those weights on the spokes? Never ever seen that before.

I hate to think what the outcome would have been if you had a fibreglass pattern crash box fitted

I've only just seen this, so sorry to see what's happened but I'm glad that both you and Lizzie are OK. Seeing the fire fighters around Lizzie really makes me think about what can happen if anything goes wrong. Keep safe :)

Absolutely shocking picture, you should feel very fortunate to walk away with superficial injuries. Heartbreaking given the time and effort you put into the beast. At the end of the day its just a lump of metal and plastic but you do get a sentimental attachment which makes it particularly upsetting. Take some time out but don't let it kill your driving enthusiasm eh ?

I saw you hint at an accident on another thread. I never in a million years thought I'd be greeted with that picture. So so sorry to see the car in that state Stuwy. I really hope you and Liz are both ok beside the odd scratch and bruise. If there is anything I can do then just pm me.

Stuwy, appreciate this is an odd request, but one day when you're ready will you tell us what actually happened?

Don't mind telling, I was traveling along a country style lane, quite narrow with high hedges. Doing around 30 mph I entered a corner expecting it to be a sweeping left hander. What become apparant is that it was a two stage corner and now turning already there was a sign to indicate that its sharp (to late down the road to see but water, bridge and all that) anyway, the corner got very sharp very quickly, a hairpin in fact. So extra steering was applied but grip run out and the car understeered (washed out) whatever you want to call it. Unfortunately there was a car coming the other way and we collided. If there was no car on the other side of the road it would have been a different story and I would have had a scary story to tell at the beach.

It was totally my fault I should have been more careful on roads I am not familiar with. 20mph would have got us round safely or perhaps a better driver would have managed. However it is what it is and I already feel like complete sh*t so I would appreciate no lectures from the forum please.
