So I joyfully paid my £600 to CCI in January to insure my VX. Got a letter through on Tuesday saying it wasnt insured in the eyes of the DVLA. Phoned up CCI at 10:30 on Tuesday and was told that there were a few that Aviva forgot to add to the registry; we’ll email them and check back in 48 hours on AskMID.com and it will be fine. Checked that website today, 52 hours after that conversation; still illegally not insured. Whattheabolutefuck do I pay for then? Would advise everyone to check and see if yours is insured...

I had this last year with CCI/Aviva. When I phoned they did get it sorted within 24 hours. If you have your policy document and it is all correct give them until tomorrow morning and then phone and state that it still isn't showing as insured.

well, you're still insured, just not in the eyes of plod. Stick your documentation in the car, job done until they sort it.

Don't you get sent a "certificate of motor insurance" so you are insured its just the database you are not on. Not an issue till the cops run your number. They did it with my lads. You are not insured sunny, get in the car. The low loader arrived just as we got through to the insurance company. So funny watching him tell the driver he had cocked up. Told you so mr plod, why you no listen  The smug bar steward was then not amused

Aviva are (in)famous for not updating the MIB database accurately or in timely fashion. Since moving to CCI I've always checked it after each renewal and luckily it's been fine, although seems to have less data on the record than whoever it is that insures the Audi has obviously provided.

Bad luck fella... Give em a phone tomorrow. I spoke to Zoe today, PM me if you want her direct dial. Give em sh!t cos its unprofessional as fook.

I know it doesnt actually mean that you arent insured, and if plod stop you it'll be fine if youve got your certificate, and and and... However, its fcukin bullsh!t that its not been sorted out at Aviva in the first place. You pay for a service, they dont do their job, you have to chase it up again cos they aint doing their job. Waste of bloody time.

I had this a few years back with CCI. Was all sorted out within 24hrs, could have been interesting though as I'd driven through Europe etc I assumed this is the kind of thing you'd get into trouble for whilst going through Dover Port?

Had a letter today from askMID telling me I was not insured and that if I didn't take action now I would be fined . Took out my insurance middle of March . Had a row with the missis saying she must have cocked up my insurance then I read this. Looks like I need to apologise .

Having the certificate in you posession means nothing. If you watch those police shows then you'll see tonnes of times where they pull someone over and they have their certificate. When they phone up the insurance company, it turns out they have taken out the policy, cancelled it under the 14day cancellation and kept the certificate. Obviously if the police phone the insurance company they will get the details, but they don't believe the certificate on it's own merits anymore.

Correct Bob we had a big argument with this copper telling him the car was insured. His computer said it was not and so he radioed for a low loader to have the car taken away. When we told him his computer was wrong his reply was "its never wrong"

But it wasn't his computer that was wrong. It showed everything it should... it was the insurer and mid database that was wrong. :P
