When I first bought my waggon there there was a constant debate on if it was worth getting carbon undertrays. There was some investigation as to if it would be rigid enough with the thin sheet as thicker sheet was as heavy (if not heavier) than the ally tray. The conclusion was to go for a big poo before going out on track. There have been some extreme tales of people eating purge inducing peas to get a good clearout to reduce their weight! I fancied having a play with a different sort of carbon so I made one to see.

I've used spread tow carbon (2 layers with one at 45 degrees) with 3d core. The skins are paper thin so the rigidity comes from the core. I used 3d core for the honeycomb structure and I haven't felt anything this stiff since I facebooked Joes mum . It is heavier than standard foam core (by about 500g) but it is good. I've used 6 layers of 50mm carbon tape round all the edges so it probably could be lighter. Anyways, saves just over 1kg on the alloy tray. I'll be well impressed if anyone can sh*t over 1kg, even with help from peas. It protrudes more into the rear wheel arch than standard (following winstars analysis in the premium section) Just waiting on some new naca's now. The finish isn't great, a bit dimpley, as I used vinyl covered chipboard as the mould!

NSFG = Not safe for gigo :) The reality of these is that they would be too expensive to lose that 1kg and people probably wouldn't accept the print through of the core material on the inside. I did it to have a play. I think there's 8m of cloth, 1.5kg of resin, 50m of tape and £50 of core. Materials cost comes in at around £350. Add labour and its probably double so making more would be unrealistic.

Being nsfg I think has kept Aimy away well so far. As for Gigo that flag would have just drawn him in.

I was not at all tempted not to look, it didn't draw me in at all. FLD is a very bad man showing off all this carbon skills, if I could a ) find time to make/sculpt etc b ) had the spare cash c ) had the patients, I would most likely have a vx made out of carbon :lol:/>

So is the justification for a mod now that it saves the weight of a poo? This can only lead to constipated VX'ers modding rather than laxativ-ating.
