They will fit, a bit of fettling is required for the VX runners noting to technical. I wanted to keep my OEM seat belts and 4 point harnesses,
Where the captive nuts are on the sides of the oem seats they are not on these seats so you have to adapt to fit.

Giving somebody grief for bringing up safety is idiotic. Strength of the seats matters most in rear end accidents as they're all that's stopping you from ending up in the back of the car. With the Vx this isn't really an issue as there's nowhere to go but you certainly wouldn't want it to break up or come away from its mountings as you'd want it to support your back/neck throughout the accident. Bolting seats onto single skinned steel floors (ie anything over 10-15 years old), they recommend at least 1.5 inch washers. Bolting through GRP you need huge washers so they aren't just ripped through by the forces.
Unless they were a good copy of an existing design I'd be a bit worried about the safety factor. Manufacturers spend a lot testing every part of a car to make sure it withstands the forces that its designed for. Before they even manufacture something its tested and tweaked in simulations in software. FIA approved seats have to meet specs for a reason.
That said, none of us bought these cars for safely. Any serious crash in the Vx and you're going to be in trouble as the passenger is already virtually on your lap and your legs are surrounded by hard objects. The standard seats don't have much padding like a 'normal' car so its going to hurt!

The VX is designed that there is very little that you can actually 'hit'. Side to side in the seat (eg hitting the door) like any other car; however the dashboard is out of reach of the passenger, and the airbag makes sure that the occupant has no where to go except neatly into the seat. From what i've seen, VX's stand pretty well in average crashes. Yet to see a freelander drive over the top of one; but other than that, i'm with zoobeef.
