When you undo the plugs have a look inside too. Pull off the yellow mesh and check for opened up terminals. That was what mine was with the symptoms you describe. Classic fix is to clean them out first. thumbsup

Because that's what the dumbfuckski diagnostics computer suggests it absolutely positively has to be (ask Smiley :wacko: ). As suggested the "loom of doom" would be my first port of call. It's 99.98% certain that a new ECU isn't required, that's for sure.

:yeahthat: My butt still hurts from that visit to vauxhall in my first year of ownership. O my, have i learned over the years.
STAY AWAY FROM VAUXHALL WITH ANY THROTTLE RELATED ISSUE.
Get the code(s) read, post them here and we will sort you out. chinky chinky

Do you have a code reader? If not I am in MK and you could borrow mine to find out. Some might suggest TMS in MK but my experience is that they will just say the same as Vxl. When I had a misfire I paid £8o to be told it could be MAF, coil pack or ECU. Wasn't the most helpful result as I already knew that!

I did not have the issue after that "fix", but by now i know that contactspray would probably have done the job.

This was the present i got when i picked up the car from them after 2k of repairwork:

Cheers for the offer. Hockey is going to come and have a look this weekend. I might have another go at cleaning the contacts tomorrow. Last time i didn't take them fully apart (yellow bits off)

so it turned out to be five ecu pins corroded off thumbsdown time for a secondhand 'ecu / transponder / key chips' set and a repair to the engine loom ecu plug :rolleyes:

All sorted now thanks to Vocky. New (2nd hand) ECU successfully installed and problem solved. Thanks for everyone's feedback and thanks again to Vocky for switching the parts.

What? I allowed for the 0.02% of instances, when that was the real problem. :D

for future reference purposes.......

this is the second time I have seen this exact same problem;

the ecu pins in the four row ECU plug socket were corroded and broken off from the ECU itself, this meant they were corroded inside the engine loom plug, so we had to replace six wires in the loom plug to repair the engine loom. Then we simply swapped the ECU, immobiliser transponder (around the steering lock) and the immobiliser chips inside the two keys.

ps: glad to help a fellow owner ........ by removing the hard top and fitting the soft top ready for summer  :P
