Hi all I used to own a Lotus Elise (S2 111R) and loved it but simply couldn't get on with the seats - any longer than a 35 min journey left my back twitching in agonised spasms! I know because I had a 38 min journey to work, the last few mins were spent wriggling around groaning :( I got rid of it after only 3 months. Anyway... I know have a regularly 2 hour journey... but I'm itching to buy a VX220 turbo! Now I believe the seats are a little better in the VX than an Elise but I still think I'd struggle. I have however owned many an MX-5 and love the seats. I know that many people fit Elise or VX seats in an MX-5 to save space - so does that mean you can fit MX-5 seats in a VX220?? I believe runners are different anyway - so would you need to get something made up...? But I imagine the MX-5 seats are bulkier - so would they actually physically fit?? Many thanks... Ross

I'd be surprised if they do. Generally interchanges only go one way; replace a large seat with a smaller one. There are a lot of other seat options becoming available, here are just a few in discussion at the moment: http://www.vx220.org...rp-vx220-seats/ http://www.vx220.org...on-fiber-seats/

I test drove a few Elise 111R's before buying a VXT. Im afraid to say that the Probach seats in the Elise are far superior to the VXT. If you found these uncomfortable then you will not get on with the standard seats in the VXT. Im sorry to be negative here...

Funny how different body's take to different seats. We can both sit all day for hours on end in the vx seat and are absolutely fine and Jan says they are the most comfy seats she ever sits in but she is small and it just fits well. Is the problem the seat is to hard ? or is it the shape/position ? Ask someone to measure the width of the MX V05 seat for you,a few on here have them. Gbob will measure his I am sure.

They won't fit, they're huge in comparison with the VX seats. I love the seats, could sit in them all day and will be doing so, soon. The main difference between the seats is the padding, if you didn't agree with the Probax, you'll have the same issues with a standard VXT

I found the exact opposite. I preferred the comfort (if not the look) of the non-Probax padding seats.

Surely it depends on rear girth so to speak? I hated Lee's seats and I was spilling out the sides.

Thanks for the replies everyone... mmm mixed bag there!! I think my best bet is to see if I can 'borrow' one or have an extended test drive to see how I get on with the seats... looks like the MX5 seat idea is out of the window though, sounds like they'll simply be too big. It was strange as I could sit comfortably for 30 mins then suddenly I'd start getting spasms in my back! I'm fairly average height and build, 5ft 10/11ish, 75kg, 32 inch waist... but quite broad shoulders. I don't actually fit that well in an MX-5 seat, I sit kinda twisted, but it works!

Hey thanks mate... didn't know about the meet... I'll have my little girl that day though so unless someone has a 3 seater VX220 think I'll have to give it a miss! :(

phnar..

The answer is: NO FRICKIN WAY!
The Mx5 seats are much wider and much more comfy, so won't fit.

Not all 111r have probax in them so the VX seats might not be massively different.

Thanks everyone, I think I'm going to go down a different route now anyway - could really do with 4 seats - but it was an interesting prospect anyway and hopefully this discussion will help people in the future thinking about seat changes. :grouphug: Rossi signing out.
