Whys is cut all the way though? If it was halfcut (i.e l.etters 1-2mm lower than the main sheet it would be easier to keep clean or even paint in the letters if you wanted.

Thats just how laser cutting works. I think what you are after is engraving?

I might be able to offer engraving later down the line, but it wouldn't be as cheap as laser cutting, for something like this doing, but engraved i'd guess at around £60...

 

i'll make a start on the speedster supercharged drawing now

You could bond a thin plate to the back of the laser cut plate , before fitting , to gain the effect you want. pre-paint it what ever colour you want.
