I recently posted a question about a horrendous noise coming when I accelerated above 70. I now know it was the splitter ripping away from the front clam.

So here's the two holes and rips that have resulted. I have put duck tape and black vinyl over them for now but what else can I do?

Thanks

PS Anyone want to buy a splitter!? And sorry for the down under pictures.

It was one of Robin's. I think I may have scrapped the road or curb at  some point and this did the initial damage.

I'll put an ad in the market place forum later on but I'll give you first refusal.

Cheers,

It just wants refibreglassing from the inside. Easy enough and pretty simple to DIY. Once smooth, just redrill the holes. It will need repainting though. Or take it to a bodyshop that is competent with fibreglass.

Very easy repair, is a problem on any of splitters fitted to clams that hitting curbs and speed bumps can do this to clams. I was thinking of making a metal bar to help bolt splitters in place but decided against this as thought this would cause substantial damage similar to above happened. Worth noting this is not a problem with the splitter but from the splitter hitting a solid object, worth noting to anyone who has any form of splitters fitted to cars that this can happen and should be checked if you hit a object.

Robin is right. The splitter is completely intact. I think I caught a kerb. Didnt seem like anything major at the time but I'll bet it cracked the clam and then travelling at speed just made it worse.
