I'm loving my n/a vx but have an annoying rattle that only occasionally happens on bumpy roads. Sounds like a small chain rattle or bolt with washer rattling. Not very loud but still annoying. So after taking off my under trays I thought I would let you all know what rattles I have fixed so far. This could help other people fix their rattles and in return maybe you could offer me some ideas on fixing mine. Heat shield around gaiter was bent, so bent that back. Interior back panel trim was loose next to door sills some padded tape applied and fixed that rattle. Rear brake pads were rattling, easy to check, let handbrake of and check for pad movement. Passenger side was very loose. Refitted a bit of antirattle pad and pad grease and rattle gone. Exhaust movement checked and all brackets. All suspension checked and cleaned/ lubricated. All obviously pipe work/ cables checked. Handbrake cables zip tied up. I have applied spray grease to bottom of suspension spring where they fit in the cups. Sadly I haven't fixed my rattle but the above may help others. Could it be my shocks making a noise on bumpy roads?

Yep think so. Can't remember the make, yellow ones. The noise only occasionally happens, normally down my bumpy road but only happens for a few seconds. I am determined to find the cause though without spending loads of money.

I thought they all rattled and squeaked. Reminds you that it's a low volume, specialist car... It's all part of the character (thats what I tell myself anyway).

Its a built i feature of the VX220 ownership.

I started doing this to mine.....door pins were the best upgrade..... but then after a while you hear more and more... then give up....

Best cure: 1 - Remove roof. 2 - Drive fast. You will then: a - not be able to hear anything above the racket of open-top hoonery & b - be having so much fun you won't care about rattles. thumbsup

I was driving to CS on Wednesday, all was ok then half way there started to get a rattling noise when accelerating - same revs in each gear. Thought it might have been an undertray bolt loose - turned out that a bracelet of of my wife had fallen off her wrist and was rattling on the floor next to the seat. I was pleased as it wasn't a car issue, she was pleased as she hadn't lost her bracelet!

Hi Ant1

This sounds very similar to the rattle im getting from the back at the minute. Did you ever find out the cause of the annoying rattle as its driving me crackers.

Nope still not found it, been through 2 mots and still no idea. I've even redone my speaker mounts fitted acoustic carpet behind seats and all the other obvious fixes. I haven't taken the exhaust manifold heat shield off yet it could be that? I have had my drivers side sill off and nothing there. Any other ideas? I'm sure between us we can find out the rattle. It only does it at slow speeds on certain bumpy roads but it drives me nuts!
