Hey Wowzer,

Do you mean the things with the cut outs for the headrests or where the seatbelts hang down?

Nope still not found it, been through 2 mots and still no idea. I've even redone my speaker mounts fitted acoustic carpet behind seats and all the other obvious fixes. I haven't taken the exhaust manifold heat shield off yet it could be that? I have had my drivers side sill off and nothing there. Any other ideas? I'm sure between us we can find out the rattle. It only does it at slow speeds on certain bumpy roads but it drives me nuts!

I’ve found my most annoying rattle. Was the brake pads rattling in the rear callipers. Amazing how much noise they make. Took the handbrake off and i could easily move the inner pad around. No doubt once ive sorted that the next rattle will show itself.

I try to drown out any rattle by turning up the music. Unfortunately the parcel shelf thingy with the speakers in has started buzzing a bit so thats coming out and will be lined with 1mm foam and replaced. Going to fit new speakers to. Fitted the anti rattle door pins a few weeks back which made a big difference. Thought my windows were beginning to rattle but it was the doors.

You can fit the foam without taking the shelf out, just fit foam through the speaker holes, you will need a lot to fill all the voids and gaps. I was almost thinking of expanding foam. It made a big difference to my speakers and so did making up some mdf speaker rings. Good luck

Love how techie posted a Z4. My Z4M creaked like an old boat, all from the dash plastics on a cold morning.

I thought they all rattled and squeaked. Reminds you that it's a low volume, specialist car... It's all part of the character (thats what I tell myself anyway).

when we took your front clam off, the horn  was hanging loose

Yep - That's one rattle sorted as is clearing the rubbish from under the seat. Also there was a little bracket by the fuel filler that was loose but everything else was rusted into place so I have no idea how it was rattling! When the supercharger is whining the rattles wont bother me :)

After 9 years plus of owning vx's you learn to live with the rattles and realise they will NEVER be defeated no matter how hard you try.

Great news 3 rattle fixed today. 1, drives seat mis-aligned undo 4 bolts and reseat, sorted. 2, passenger door window stripped door down, used the trunking technique but fitted it on the other part of the runner as I had front to back movement on the glass. Seems better will need a good road test soon. 3, after someone mentioning pad rattle thought I'd check again(even though I had sorted that a few years ago). Well the chain rattle I think is indeed the drivers side inner pad rattling. Didn't have time to remove pad fully but applied brake grease and anti rattle pad and think that's sorted. Bonus fix Water bottle bracket rattles, foam fixing behind sorted. Tyre weld can knocks near bottom corner of screen, sticky pad fixed to tyre can. Plastic shround over wiper motor is poor design, removed and fitted sticky pad no more rattle. Still a few more to find, but rattles can be fixed given plenty of patience and time :-)

Ant1 sounds like your on a mission. I thought that rattling chain sound might have been the inner brake pads rattling in the callipers. My brake pad buffers should arrive from elise parts soon so will get those fitted. Sounds like you're going to be the man to ask when it comes to silencing rattles!

To be honest you guys helped spur me on. Next on my list is my alternator belt. Re tightened it a few months ago but it squeals every few weeks. I do the old baby talc on the belt trick but that only lasts a few weeks. Does anyone know if belt dressing spray lasts longer?

Mine rattles because a bolt is missing from one of the seats! I tried to replace it, but the hole is threaded :(
