Rear pads overwhelmed the tyre grip and locked up. Was running different pad compounds so I guess the fronts faded first.

The only consolation is that I couldn't have done anything about it, apart from buy a full set of the same pads
Note to self, don't mix pads.

What spec brakes and pads etc did you have? You've got me all worried now saying that I don't think I drive that fast to get into that situation Was it anything to do with the abs? Or did you not have it connected?Rear pads overwhelmed the tyre grip and locked up. Was running different pad compounds so I guess the fronts faded first.

Thats the moral of the story...no pad mixing.
It was a real snap that.

Used PF01 fronts, New RC6 rears. I think if I had a full set of new RC6's the front would have locked first and put me safety into the gravel trap. I also think a set of A048's wouldn't have been overwhelmed but basically AD08 are not sticky enough for that level of braking.

In the past I've used RC5+ pads and the most neg G I could pull even mashing the pedal through the floor was -0.8 so it was never an issue. As you can see the neg G's were -1.2G which is too much for the rubber. The brakes seemed fine and I was just starting to search for the braking point on that straight.
I've done a load of trackdays and really trust the car so feel I can push it hard. TBH it was my first day at Oulton and I'd only done about 20 laps so was no where near the pace I was expecting. I recon I would have been 10 seconds faster a lap by the end of the day with a clean lap.
ETA - Bumblebee, ABS was on but didn't do anything.

Yeah I did think that if I'd braked a car length later I might have missed the barrier but I also would have probably hit the metal post on the corner which would have been much worse for me.

That was one of the things I said in my exit thread as its bumpy on the run down to there.

oh lord that me me feel very sick. glad your ok

Yeah looks possible that the rear unloaded, suddenly you have a load less rear grip and the bracketing force if too great (for the grip available) causing rears to lock. Sucks but at least it's sorted Steve. Buy an atomThat was one of the things I said in my exit thread as its bumpy on the run down to there.
