@FLD actually this is more accurate

Open length issues

FLD I'm guessing you have 395 open length.  If so update the list with your open length then if there's enough 395's out there I can get a run of parts made to rectify this issue.

I'll measure up tonight for exactness.  Just been investigating getting them sorted myself but a group buy in true .org fashion would be ideal!  Should be reasonably easy to sort IMO.

I've just read back from post one and this is an epic thread for what appears to be a discussion of the working stroke range of a damper.

Just had mine back fron Nitron following an extensive (& expensive although fronts look new) refurbishment so will take some measurements and post later. Will also be putting them up for sale (long story but nothing to do with this thread) shortly so hopefully the "robust" views contained in this thread will not result in putting people off. I think 99.9% of us have been happy with our Nitrons over the years.

Mine will undoubtedly be short and single bumpstop. Just can't be arsed to go and remove them from the car to measure them until maybe the weekend.

Not the easiest thing to measure but i think mine are less than Jimmys slightly. Measured a million times and i think they are 420mm maybe slightly less. I can take it work on monday and measure them accurately with a big vernier if its really important? Late 2012 46's

At least GAZ and Nitron seem to agree with each other

Not necassary mate 420mm open length is fine!!  I struggled with the measurement with a big steel ruler too so maybe 420mm is the correct length, it's tough to be certain tbh....

Either way it's the guys down around the 395mm open length mark who have problems and this is what Scuffer's saw and highlighted as a problem.  You're defo in the clear, you can seethat from the droop pic you have tons!!  Exactly what I was showing people at the National.  What confuses me is Max.  He has the same spec as you and I but he says his droop is short ().

Will measure my short ones when I take them off the car a.s.a.p. (and replace with Crabash' longer Hoffmann ones...)

Like to update the shorties too.

Thorney's revenge   I'm hoping at some point he realised his spec was wrong and adjusted it!  In a way it helps if there's more than 1 or 2 as I can get a batch of bits made but I hope it's not a silly amount!

To be fair not many people seem interested at the moment but I'm thinking that's maybe because this thread is a mess.  Reckon it would be a good idea to start a fresh thread for this?

your right there, shame it takes several weeks and all just to get to the point where people actually accept there is a problem.

this would have been a whole lot easier without the dogged defense of the in-defensible.

There are many important differences throughout this that are lost in you blanket comments though Simon that I've been vocal to point out.

[*]Most short shocks effected are special orders by aftermarket tuners
[*]It doesn't seem to effect performance
[*]Nobody has ever complained about it (in fact they are mostly very happy).
    [/list]

Furthermore you were often far too keen to tar every product in the range with this issue etc etc which is where the dogged defense came from and rightly bloody so to be honest.  It's damaging to the company reputation to just leave your (often unfounded) negative comments go unchallenged.

People were unclear of the issue when this first started as the science in understanding it is a little confusing but now that it's been broken down and people can see it for what it is, most people don't seem to care.  For those that do I will try and help :)

I do appreciate you bringing this to the forefront so we can look to rectify it.  Also I genuinely do not have a problem with you personally and will be seeing you soon enough with Time Attack stuff, this is just a forum and we are just coming from different places with this.
