Thanks for sorting this Jimmy : thumbsup:

We're a long way from that yet.

I dont know, we've identified the problem and we're sorting out who and how many.  I'd say we've got a good start on it.  Once numbers are firmed up its just a trip to Nitron and a bit of a bill.  Sorted.

To be fair not many people seem interested at the moment but I'm thinking that's maybe because this thread is a mess.  Reckon it would be a good idea to start a fresh thread for this?

Yes, deffinitely worth doing

Most of this stuff is over my head, as i'm a fit and forget guy.

My NTR's are stock NA's ordered in sept 2008 directly from nitron.

So if i have dings in my wishbones, it could have been from both the oem's or the nitrons?

So other then then taking one off and measuring i would know if i would need to put my name on the list of jjj's new post?

You could get a rough open measurement with them still fitted to the car...

I bet siztens old set? Basically the old black spring ones.

May be a sweeping generalisation (ie best to go check) but JT's analysis says black springs might be an indicator.

With the suspension still attached to the car, when jacked up it will be at full extension unless the wishbones are hitting the bottoms.

Same as that. Don't want to know anything more about suspension than the stuff I already know. I've now gone and got hot, bothered and thoroughly fcuked off and removed one of the rear dampers. Should the damper extend to "full open" of it's own accord? I hope so because I can't "open" it any further. How the fcuk are you meant to measure closed length? Do I need to track down a local elephant to sit on the end of it, whilst I dice with death trying to stick a steel rule along the damper and guess where the middle of the eye's are? Fcuking stupid. Already wishing I'd ignored the thread entirely. Ignorance and dinked upper wishbones is bliss.

 Soften the damper right off, then you can squash it (without spring) to get closed length. For full extended, wind the collar down to use the spring force to extend it fully.

Or just leave it on the side... Not like your car is moving  Or has this got you all enthused to use the car?

It almost just got a punch. If my hands weren't already in a mess from punching my way through my big LCD monitor (missing that big time but I have always wanted to shoot, punch or kick a hole in a TV/monitor) on Sunday, the rear clam would have a nice fist sized hole in it now. What is impressive is they've still got all of their clicks and the spring platform still moves, even after 7 years.

I would say measured Open Length minus measured Piston Stroke = Closed Length,

(measure stroke to the 1st bumpstop and add ~1/2 stop height to that.)

Yep, no way to squash it enough, with the lower spring platform and spring still on there. At least not if you've got anything over 50lb springs on it.

I think a lot of people with 40's who bought them, and had them fitted, are put off by this intense investigation to verify if they have a problem.

Hopefully once a few gearheads actually do this, and it is concluded that all stock 40's from 2009 and older are eligable for the list, it would be easier to put your name down.

My 2006'ish NTR 40's (single adjustable) 395mm open length have the following droop range

In my blissful ignorance, I've no idea if that's good, bad or indifferent.

That droop looks poor compared to the pic jimmy or george posted.
