They were fitted march/april 2010 ordered I guess a few weeks before.   Again I stress they were a non standard damper ordered by crandal to his spec.

6 months makes quite a difference it seems.
To be fair it seems it's not so much what Nitron changed as what crandal asked for.
Mine aren't standard Nitrons.

Oh sorry must have missed that bit.

Yeah, it's your fault  I must admit it's interesting to see now 3 members have had issues with the open length of the shocks... I wonder how much of this is down to the spec that was ordered though.... Simon I've kind of lost the plot with what you're referring to half the time with your comments but I don't feel like I've made any false claims or mis directed anybody in this thread. Quite the opposite to be honest. You have a fundamental disagreement with regards what you think correct open lengths should be compared to Nitron's actual measurements. I respect your reasoning as I do not know enough to oppose it but you seem to think that automatically makes what you say to be fact. it doesn't. its just your opinion. I trust Guy Evans' opinion on these matters above anyone else's i know and Ive discussed it with him today and he maintains they are correct and that as standard there's too much droop on a VX and therefore reducing this slightly isn't an issue. I'm amused also that you're complaining that you feel I'm being 'personal'. This from possibly the rudest forum member of all time...... Well, it's him or Slindborg!

In an ideal world yes but don't have the funds :( One thing this thread has done (sorry OP) is get me some heavyweight help and whereas it may not give me the absolutely best solution it'll be better than what I had to start with. I do need to remind myself I'm not a jjj, Cliffie, max r on track so there has to a sense of proportion.

I picked my car up today from BOT, its had the ohlins units removed and replaced with the Nitron NTR46 fast road dampers (and another Geo)and yes I,ve only done about 35 miles today on them but though I can add nothing what so ever to tech talk I can say my road cornering speeds are noticably faster and can,t wait to see what there like on track. Yes they might be too firm for some people but so where the Ohlins. So far so good can,t wait for Zandavoort.

Not sure why you'd think that in an 'ideal world'....?  You've already said that the issue wasn't with Nitron more what was ordered in the first place so no need to lose faith in Nitron; they fulfiled their part of the deal no?  Also you can get NTR 46's for £60 cheaper than standard Quantum singles and these will be far more capable (imo).

Not saying this to poke the big fella in to action again more to add balance that this wasn't really a Nitron issue from my understanding so most of the slagging here has been out of order which is no suprise when you dig down through the smoke and mirrors.

can't let that one go....

How is it he fault that when he brought dampers for his VX they were physically wrong for the car?

Please explain how the new ones that are still WRONG are also just fine?

Maybe you would like to explain how it;s a great idea to have a damper that's closed length is shorter than the limits of travel for the wishbones?

People paying big money for this kind of stuff should be able to do so without having to second-guess if what they are  paying for is right.

lastly, are you for real? going on about half-truths? where? what?

like the one you have just said, Also you can get NTR 46's for £60 cheaper than standard Quantum singles and these will be far more capable (imo).

Like for like, the quantum's are cheaper (all be it we are talking £38), but then I should not be surprised you can't seem to add up.
