I doubt it CS measures that stuff. All they probably have is wideband in the exhaust to monitor afr going bad at WOT.

Steve

Good to hear all your hard work is done and the car's running well.

Will try and get over soon to check it out. Alternatively, now your mobile again, perhaps we should meet up at a decent pub and have a celebratory (soft) drink.

Have you any plans to track soon, would be keen to get back out again myself.

Hi Brian

Yeah a pub meetup would be great. The car developed a coolant leak today (that s-bend top hose) so I'll be trying to sort that out tomorrow. I'm off upto Surrey on Saturday to visit a mate who's dying to have a go in my car, then I have my son on Sunday but yes lets catch up soon. Poss Sunday evening?

Only got 1 trackday booked so far - 15th Sept at Snetterton - which is a Sunday. Fancy that? I'm a bit stuck for time off work but if you have any days in mind drop me a line. Could maybe fit in a brands evening one?

How's your car running? Did you sort out that pump?

Steve

sorry for the late reply, works been a pain recently. I have projects in Skipton, Macclesfield and Bangor that I have to visit occasionally, so I spend half my life on the road or away.

Car is now going fine, pump sorted. Dont think it's directly related, but acting as a blockage when seized didnt help!

Now anxious about my suspension set-up. Front of car keeps bottoming, so thought it was too soft/too low. Raised it a couple of turns on the gaz golds, but found set at about 14 clicks from soft. Rears were on 19! Reckon I need a trip to BOT to get sorted.

I think Im away in Italy Sept 15th, but do fancy another spin round Brands

Can't believe I missed this :-( What with getting married and honeymoon really not been on the forum much in the last 6 weeks and I miss a DIY SC conversion done practically on my doorstep. Would love to have popped round to help (and secretly spy so I have more of an idea when I start mine).

now your mobile again, perhaps we should meet up at a decent pub and have a celebratory (soft) drink.

Open invite, or can anyone join?

Chris - congrats on your marriage :)

Shame you couldn't have popped by to help out mate - still when it all falls apart you're most welcome to learn all about it and fix it for me then. When you do yours I'd be happy to help anywhere I can.

There's a Littlehampton meet next Tuesday.. http://www.vx220.org...0th-aug-7pmish/

Or yeah any other little meetup I'm more than up for.

Thanks buddy. Unfortunately not actually back from honeymoon until the Wednesday night. Now somewhere with Internet access though (much to the Mrs delight). More than happy to pop over for fix age though (not that it'll ever break) and have access to most tools no matter how unusual so shout before you buy anything.

May well be calling you up when I start but it won't be until my shares mature which is July 2014 :-(

I do however already have the uprated pump and as you've already done that once...

So since the charger conversion the car's completed about 2000 miles, and a couple of track days. I'm now touching a big lump of wood whilst I declare that so far nothings gone wrong. Its not missed a beat.

Another new year is round the corner, which only means 1 thing.. Make a new year's list of things to do on the VX and throw more time & money at it.

First issue.. My front shocks have naff all bump travel. They front ride height was never set radically low (120mm) but with these GGP mk2 shocks they're right on the end of (or passed really) their lowest operating range.. See here

About 10mm of bump travel before hitting the bump stop. No wonder the car is very crashy over anything other than a minor bump, and I wonder if its been less than ideal on track whilst hard braking etc. So Santa delivered a set of those Elise shock lowering brackets. The idea being to fit those, keep the ride height the same but move the top of the shock 25mm higher. This should put the shock more toward the middle of its stroke.

Next things on the list include:

1. Have the steering/rack checked. My car has always had a large amount of bump steer - constantly tugging at the wheel over anything other than billiard smooth road surfaces. And the steering in general feels very 'loose'.

2. Replace the rear toe links. They're original, 12 years old, look pretty bad and so for peace of mind replace with Elise Parts kit.

3. Replace hub carrier bolts - belt & braces.

4. Tidy interior a bit. Swap the red door shoulder leather for black. Paint door cards and centre console black.

5. Fit turbo splitters.

6. Possibly fit a turbo spoiler.

7. Wheels.

Done 7 already..

I had planned to have them repainted Anthracite but actually saved some pennies and decided I like the silver at the moment. With 205/45 235/40 AD08R no clearance issues found thus far.

Oh, Santa also delivered a bottle of Renovo soft top renovator so that'll go on in due course.

Hi Chris - no not really. The n/s front was pretty much the same as the o/s one in the picture - maybe 5mm more travel. No idea why this is so I'm just going to put these lowering brackets on to bring the top of the shocks up by 25mm. Everything looks as it should be otherwise.

I've had previous wheels done in black but they always seem lost when photographed. Might go anthracite if I ever bother.
