Engine runs  thumbsup

However, when you open the throttle it hesitates before picking up. When it was cold it was much worse and almost stalled. As it warmed up it got much better but its still there. If you open the throttle slowly it is ok, but sudden blip of the throttle there's a hesitation, almost a splutter if you like then it picks up.

Any thoughts? I'll try & post up a vid.

Steve

I came round at about 1 ish, but you weren't about! Can't believe I missed the big start up!

Surely it's the base map on the ecu causing the hesitation?

Ah mate! Sorry I had popped to Vauxhall's to get some coolant.

Yeah hoping its an ECU learn thing or something.

Which clips? I haven't dis/reconnected any of the fuel lines - except the fuel rail.

That's great that you've got it running, could be a few reasons for the hesitation:

1. My engine was 'grumpy' until the coolant fully circulated, there will be a lot of air locks until it's had a chance to open the thermostat and bleed all the air.

2. Base map

ignore me , for some reason I thought that was a fuel pump , getting confused with Nickb777's problems

That sounds normal for courtenays map

I had a similar problem which turned out to be the map sensor - once that was changed its been fine - definitely not a base map issue.

OK interesting - what were your symptoms?

Here's a quick vid of my issue. Any similarity? Just rang CS for any help - they suspect its fueling on the basemap but obviously can't be very positive which is fair enough.

Steve

If it helps, got a Scanguage today, so will try to pop in later. It might diagnose any fault codes?

I had very similar symptoms when I had a break down earlier this year. It was a fueling issue, I suspect the fuel cut off switch but it fixed itself. I would suggest checking all the hard fuel lines to make sure there aren't any kinks, and also check the valve on the fuel line for fuel pressure. Are the loom connectors back in correctly (blue and black) keep in mind that you've spliced into the fuel power line to feed the charge cooler pump, maybe that joint wasn't good?

Ok cool thanks some things to check. I think all that is ok bit will double check. One thing I did at the start of all this work was replace the fuel pump for an updated one. Haven't driven the car since so that's another thing to consider.

Just watched the video and it seems so similar to mine when I first started it - I then took it for a drive and it would drive at very low throttle but just bog-down above 2 - 2.5 rpm. At standstill I think it would rev but only if you were very gradual with the throttle. Where are you? Is anyone close that you could swap out the map sensor with just to check? I have found the base map to be absolutely fine - aside from the dodgy revving up and down when you start it sometimes, its been considerably better than the map I used to have on the car.

Cheers for that. I was considering getting a new MAP sensor actually - am currently using a 2nd hand one off some 1.7dti vauxhall or other - but yeah if anyone local does have one we could swap to test that'd be ideal.

Deano and Samjeev popped over this evening. Cheers guys - and thanks to Deano got the error codes off the ecu - EGR low voltage (checked the cheater and looked ok so not sure on that one), and 1512 Throttle position minimum learning not complete. Will have to research that.

Running the car up again, general opinion was its just the map. When it stutters the exhaust pops with a load of unburnt fuel - its obviously over fuelling.

So I'll ask the newbie question!

Like Steve with his new charge cooler, I have a CC also. Mine looks like it's got plain (mucky, but plain) water in. No anti-freeze. What's the opinion of the good people on the forum. Water or water/coolant mix for best results?

Depends if you want it to freeze and split during the winter or not.
