Hi All, I'm a long-term Lotus Elise owner who happens to be the Sales Director at an insurance brokers. I've managed to secure a new type of insurance cover for Lotus and now VX's! It's early days at the moment, and I've got a couple more insurers who want to get involved and offer insurance to you guys. I've been working on providing a bespoke insurance risk for VX220's (N/A, Supercharged and Turbo's) owners including: - Trackday cover - Business use - Limited Mileage - Agreed value - European cover - We will tailor your needs on an individual basis Our current main VX220 insurer will consider drivers from 25 years old upwards, but the critical issue being experience with VX220's, and good driving history's. They offer track days and agreed value, but if you don't need either of those, we can go to other insurers! We specialise in high risk, convicted drivers too, so if the cars modified, or you've been a tad naughty once upon a time, we'll do our best to help! The best way to go about getting a quote, is to call my team at 1 Answer Insurance Brokers on: 0800 276 1338. If you quote Lotus/VX220 insurance scheme, and mention the fact that I (Rich) have referred you, they'll get the ball moving for you. Whilst I'd love to personally deal with you all, and will be available some of the time, my guys are becoming well versed in the knowledge of track days, Nitrons and sports exhausts! **We're open 09.00 - 20.00 Monday to Friday & Saturday's 10.00 - 17.00** http://www.1answer.co.uk/ We'd love your business, and will genuinely do our best to secure you great cover and an excellent service. We also deal with a wide variety of other motor, bike, household, property and commercial insurance, so please don't hesitate to call us about any other insurance related requirements. Regards Rich http://www.1answer.co.uk

Sounds brilliant!! Would you be able to do any multi-car insurance as well, for those of us with runarounds? I'm my insurance is due in August... Just a shame I'm 24 :(

Best bit is, next year the entrance level will be 26, just to keep you out. :P Nice one though Rich, having followed things on SELOC, I'm glad you managed to sort something out those of us of the VX persuasion. Hopefully, your chosen insurers won't get cold feet and cut us off at the knees in the future. thumbsup

Thanks guys. Let me say that we WILL look at younger drivers under 26, but our main Lotus/VX 220 insurer may not want to look at the risk. Therefore track days and agreed value wouldn't be available, but general road use would. I've got another insurer who wants to get involved in offering track days and agreed value, so they might look at offering this to younger drivers, although under 22/23 could b difficult for us, but we'll do our best. We can deal with runarounds and insure cars on an individual basis, whilst mirroring NCB to keep costs low. We also offer really good value UK & EU breakdown cover too, for those that like to do a little Alps action! Another positive with our main insurer is that they WILL cover the Nurburgring under an organised track day, with an increased excess and n an individual basis. No tourist days unfortunately, but it means you won't have to take out additional track cover. One more thing I wanted to add, was that the track day excess is fixed at £1k, and not 10% of the value of the car. Nurburgring excess would be higher though. Windscreen excess is on £60 and they cover 60 days driving in the EU. If in doubt, give us a call and we'll see what we can do, as we speak directly to the insurers, who whilst can be strange beasts at times, mean we can fight your corner to get you covered:) Rich

Tried you a week or so ago and was told Lotus only special deals, no VXs included. I assume this is no longer the case?

Yep it was the case last week or the week before, as I'd tried to get VX'ers covered before. After hounding them on this, and explaining that an Elise and VX is basically the same car, they caved in.

just some interesting figures from a well known insurer, the average cost of a Lotus claim is £6,483.65 with a claim ratio of 77% , whereas , VX220 10 claims @ £39,917.76 , avg £3,991.78 , 171 policies, 58.37%

I would imagine the rate of increase or decrease of those figures is just as important as the figures themselves

The critical thing is how the price fairs against our existing premiums. Has anyone got a quote for comparison yet?

We're quoting someone now and are significantly cheaper! It won't always be the case though, but we do guarantee to get you the best level of cover for your pride and joy!

This is potentially good news.

When someone rings for a quote, will you give your best quote, or like Tim Knott, will you ask for your best other price and then try to beat it? Trying to beat another quote is a practice I despise. So please tell me you just give your best quote.

It's all bullshit. Never seen or heard of any car crime or actually seen a ding since i moved here 3 years ago.  Yes I have seen a car torched 100 yards form my house but that was some twat pulling an insurance scam and he did not even live here.

If esure ever decide not to offer me insurance I am fcuked.
