IS IT POSSIBLE TO MANUFACTURE NEW HEADLIGHT LENSES???
I'm well aware of the problem! But can it be done?
After going stage 2, a full respray, and a few other improvements, one thing that needs improving is my lights. My headlight refurb didn't go too well!... Don't have the cash for new (and I'm slightly customising things anyway) so I'm living in hope that it might be possible to get some manufactured.
I have spoken to specialist glass formers... Impossible!
I have spoken to specialist plastic formers... Might be possible but not easy and the plastic wouldn't be strong enough, needs a polycarbonate or styrine mix possibly? Recommended a pressure former or injection moulding.
I have yet to speak to/find a pressure former or injection molding company.
It is blatantly obvious that this is not an easy task, hence why nobody on here has the answer yet! But it must be possible! And as time goes on it will be even more beneficial for all of us here if this problem could be solved. It's daft that a new (££££!) light fitting is required because we cant replace a small piece of plastic that tends to fall off anyway. And presumably as the cars are not manufactured anymore, the OEM replacements will also fall to the same fate (10 years after production stops?).
I would assume that a quantity required to keep the overall cost down would be easily achievable if me or someone else can source a solution.
Does anyone have any leads, idea's, options, solutions, comments, spare lenses or funny jokes?....
