Hi to all NA engine mod-doers,

I would like to order a set of high compression pistons from Omega/Accralite Pistons, Compression Ratio 12:1. The minimum order is a job lot of 20 pistons which means I need at least 4 more individuals to come on board. Omega/Accralite have quoted a price starting point of £145.00 GBP + VAT per a piston. Actual price won't be determined until we fully iron out the piston specification with them but it shouldn't be too far from the starting point (unless we go for some exotic metals).

This is an opportunity for the community to spec up and manufacture some good quality High Compression pistons for the NA. Don't miss out! Express or enroll your interest by reply.

:)

Stephen

What alloy spec will be used, and will they be stronger then oem´s, or will higher compression be the only requirement?

2618a aluminium, typically used in aerospace industry so pistons will be stronger than the standard items which are made from tin :P

No good for us who want high silicon content alloy so we don't have to endure shitty cylinder clearances and piston slappage.

Might be interested depending on coatings options and DLC pins availibility; otherwise don't count me in

@smiley big over bore on those and think of the knock!!

@techieboy At the moment I'm talking with JE Pistons and Omega/Accralite. We can specific 4032 or other alternate alloys. Omega/Accralite however will only do work outside of 2618a if they get a production run of 300 units or above, they claim different metals have different processes during manufacturing so they need to retool etc. So that rules them out. JE Pistons have to get back to me.

@alanoo Coatings - Any colour you want as long as it alloy :P (seriously I'm looking into it)

Update..... JE Pistons also use 2618 aluminum. Looks like exotic metals are out of reach for this first try at some custom pistons.

You may want to try with supertech performance, they use Mahle 4032 forgings with their interesting Grafal coating afaik

I guess a definite price. I was planning on Z22YH pistons but would consider this as well depending on how much it's going to cost. The cost of my engine build I can see spiralling skywards :)
