To be honest the actual issue is that they're around the 100mm stroke length it seems so if your open length is 395mm your droop available from normal ride heights is compramised and when you pass through the full stroke the wisbone travel fouls the wishbone.

The easy method of fixing this was to introduce bigger bump rubbers which limited your stroke where as the best method is to lengthen the open length to bring the entire 100mm stroke to within the wishbone limits.

The easy method used was still very much fit for purpose and as I've said has not generated a single complaint but captain chaos stirred up the sh*t as he's found a technical flaw.  There has been no denial that his tech talk has been correct (it has been, although slightly hypocritical) the arguement has been the whether this effects any of the current range of shocks Nitron sell.  Scuffers tarred the whole range of Nitrons shocks with this brush where is actually seems limited to 2009 spec 40's.  Post 2009 40's are fine, 46's are fine, NSS are fine.

I've spent a ton of time on this (for free) with Nitron and suffered the stress involved in many hours of defense of outrageous allegations and we've come to a very good solution that has been warmly accepted by every member who is actually effected.  The only person who still has a problem is Simon....

Why he considers this my responsibility is beyond me....?  BoT for instance (not passing the buck) sell more sets in a typical 3 month period than I've ever sold and no finger pointing has gone towards Gaz or Ohlins or Bilstien or any other manufacturors who all seem to be the same issue.....

He denies it but his main aim is to divert Nitron sales on this forum to Quantum.  He's closely affiliated to the main retailer of Quantums and he helped design them.  But he's not got any invested interest....?  Please!

I'm happy that Quantums seem a great option and have a good reputation.  I prefer my Nitrons though :)

Here's some beefy Nitrons and their cute little cousin

But I'm up for a mud wrestle if that's what he wants :)  Give me the right car and I'd be up for a race with Cliffie too  :D

No, the idea is you race me in your Nitron shod car against me in my Quantum shod car.

Having looked at the piccie above though, I am not sure sure that would be fair as those beefy Nitrons must add so much more weight to each corner what with the extra material, fatter springs and so much more oil...

Such a shame and a big waste when I was reporting it to Nitron back in 2006...

Did this get brushed under the carpet or have all been modified. Really odd. Unless there's a new thread? I bought zoobeef's and they appear to be 395, so I assume that means they're 40s?

There is an upgrade. Either free if you send your dampers back to Nitron for a refresh. Or they can be fitted by anyone who has the modified longer eyelets. I have a few pairs in stock. Matt

I don't have an issue with mine at relatively standard ride heights. I will be asking for the modification when I get them refurb'ed, however that won't be for a while.
