1. If buying a Chinese OP-Com, make sure it is a version which will operate on your version of Windows.
2. Make sure you user the software disc included with the OP-Com you purchased.
3. Install software using "Administrator rights"
4. Do not upgrade software from the original Hungarian developer. They will more than likely disable your Chinese Op-Com. They have a warning they will do this. This happened to my first unit.
5. There are people on the Net who can repair your damaged unit and help install the software. I have not used their services. You will pay for their help.

If your OP-Com is a Chinese copy, I think you will find your OP-Com unit has been disabled by that software you downloaded.

I very much doubt it. The Op-Com software would need to be able to talk to the Op-Com interface in the first place, if there was any chance of it fcuking with the interface. And to do that, it'll need the drivers installed.
Drivers for the OP-Com interfaces are theoretically device dependent (although at worst they'll be near identical on these knock-off's). Post a pic of your interface up here and maybe somebody with the same can point you in the direction of their drivers/software.

Your doubt won't change anything and won't save your clone Op-Com either. I have personal experience with one dead clone.
Read this. http://www.op-com.hu/NoThanks_EN.aspx
And this, as an example. Not my experience, but somebody else.
"I was using the china clone version that came with hardware which I was using when trying to reprogram gearbox and failed on the second part,I then uploaded from Op-com forum a newer version and that too would not work on gearbox after opening the program for third or fourth time it asked me to register it which I did and the update,It was the update that locked my immobiliser."
I have had success with another clone OP-Com using the supplied software with the appropriate Windows version.
