The place I got my underfloor heating mat from is shut today so looking for any input..... In my ensuite I have 10mm insulation boards with the mat on top with granite tiles on top. I have an edge gap of 400mm on one wall and 225mm on the other (which are both free walls - ie would take furniture). Since laying the heating mat and the floor, I decided that i want to put a wardrobe in the room (the room is 4.5m by 2.5m so has plenty of room). The wardrobe I've seen is 620mm deep, ie it would extend 220mm onto the heated tiles. The wardrobe is a sliding door one and the base is a plinth. Is it safe to put this on the tiles - I have seen some very high level posts about heat block which can cause issues with the wire heat system, conversely I have seen that tiles dissipate the heat so not critical. Also seen that any furniture needs a 100mm air gap to allow the heat to circulate. Any one got any experience of this and how to overcome the problem (if it is possible). Thanks Paul

We've had a sideboard, a drinks cabinet, two sofas and various side tables and draw units on electric headed tilted floor since 2007. They are all fine as is the heating system.

The wardrobe has a plinth so there is a gap underneath but not visible, however not like a wardrobe on legs where it is raised and can "breathe" if this is a concern

It's not flat to the floor, the plinth raises it a bit, waiting for dimensions from the manufacturer, so the only bits touching the floor are the ends of the plinth.

Will be fine If there was hot spots they would only happen on flat bottom furniture but even then its unlikely you will have problems but warranty issues you might have

Would that be warranty issues with he furniture or the heating system?

Unless the thermostat is under the cupboard it would create a hot spot and the cable could brake down if it over heated which the thermostat controls

Guess that's not good then....but given the unit is raised, not highly likely? If it did fail, I could always remove the wardrobe.....big job pulling it to bits, but could be done.

Some nice vents in it and I'd imagine it will be spot on.....
