100 lightening yellow NAs (colour) had black wheels and hard tops I believe 65 vxr220 turbos had more horse power, sexy seats, ohlin suspension, 16/17 speedline wheels and a few other bits

I have seen a "lightening yellow" for sale on ebay.

Is this the sort of thing you are talking about?

There does seem to be a few for sale that are Cat D or C?

I've owned a 111R and an NA and the Vx is in my view much the better car for the money. The Toyota engine was ok on a motorway slip road but there's not enough torque to make the best progress on real roads. Plus I think the S2 is ageing badly, the Vx and in particular the S1 are looking better than ever.

That is a very clean example. I would be too worried about scratching or getting it dirty.

I car this clean would be a waste on me as i intend to drive it and also the odd track day. I think it would be a shame to do this with such a great example.

S1 Sport160 would be my shout for your possible budget. If you want to spend less buy an NA then SC it when ready. .Org is pretty funny compared to other similar um...car forums ;)

Unless very ropey or a cat c/d you won't find a Sport 160 for anything like the price of any VX (vxr excepted) For instance, for a half decent 160 I'd gladly straight swap my (decent) tubby. Depending on condition of the 160 I'd realistically be expecting to add some cash to the deal though.

This for 14k (with negotiation?) ;)

Or the silver one for just under 13.5k I reckon.

Set myself a budget of up to £9k. Doesn't mean i have to spend that though. (struggle to get a S1 111s for this, but plenty of standard S1 for this money)

The less i spend the more for any mods if required  :) .

It is very easy to get carried away and spend "just for a little more you can get this". Before you know it you are looking at cars twice your original budget. The car will basically be a toy and not my daily drive.

This is why i am also considering a better value VX220.

turboluca - Do you have 2 VX220's then?  Thanks for the offer and if i am in the area i will take you up on that. Not sure if there is any more local to me? (loughborough).

There does seem to be a fare % of Cat D or C cars for sale? I guess it depends on the quality of repair?

Issue is that some of these cars are cat d due to a parking knock or something so stupid. But if the car requires a new clam the cost is very high so the insurers cat the car. It doesn't necessarily mean a big smash.

They aren't far off. There's a few languishing at about 10 that might be negotiable. The SC conversions have had an effect on tubby prices the last couple of years. 9k sadly won't get you the nice Lighting on pistonheads ;)

Reading the previous posts a N/A may be more suited to me with a few tweaks done to the standard engine/suspension and brakes.

If you were seriously looking at lotus I would get saving as you'll need 13k and up for a 111s or 11-12 would get you a nice sport tourer. 122 bhp similar performance to na vx Thanks to lower weight and gearing.
