Ps, thought the R had only different cams and turbo fiitted compared to the E/L versions (and ecu mapping off course) Different pistons rings seems very odd to me...

Posted Image

Just found the 2 different piston part numbers too, but not a reference to E/L or R engine.

A 12791210 piston is $66.71, but the R 55555827 cost $332.33!! (Forged maybe? Defuinately need to look into this further...)

Ouch. That's some price difference. Would certainly make sense if they're forged and have any skirt treatment (these YH pistons I have here have teflon skirts by the look of it).

What will be the price for 9 or 10 new B207's?

Does that mean Saabpartners are no good? Almost just bought a new B207R bottom end from them due to man maths formulas.

Well, they are good, but having 2 different options is always good for the pricing!

(I will be not surprised if these UK engines all come from the same warehouse, as they have ~50 complete new B207 engines standing there... )

Would only make sense for me to buy the R bottom end they're listing. Though, obviously, it has to be complete with the pistons.....

Has anyone got information on the R pistons over the EL ie What are they rated at Seems strange they have same rods if these are forged pistons

That's what we are trying to find out. But what do you care, you said you're binning the rods, pistons and crank anyway?

I heard from someone in the know that ALL later (2011) B207 engines have the same internals and even bigger turbo (TD04!) as the R-spec... Only difference in the 150-175 or 210 versions is the ecu calibrations. :ninja:

Yes your right I don't want to go down external trigger wheel and wiring upgrades.........

Now you just need to know whether these are early or late engines. Maybe they're early and that's why they are cheaper, as they've been superseded.

You could probably make back £300-£400 on those parts you don't want/need. Well, as long as you don't all swamp the market at the same time.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... Saab went down the drain and these are all left-over factory lots. That means from their latest build year...

(or as he said it, "I have around 50 complete 2011 B207R engines on the shelf..."

According to list the best saab pistons are only rated to 300 bhp This is why I think vocky has surgests the el because they will need upgrading anyway And I'm sure he has other reasons to

You can still by brand new zero mileage Rover's from when they went tits up (and before the Chinese started remaking stuff). Just because they're dead and buried doesn't mean they weren't found in a tunnel underneath the factory after being stuck in there before a stock take.

Is the Z22SE crank compatible with the B207 rods? Its also heavier than the B207 crank, and possibly, not as strong..? I also read somewhere you have to clearance the block, but I'm maybe thinking of something else...

no, the B207 rods are too short for the longer throw of the 2.2 crank, so you must use the 2.2 rods and pistons with the 2.2 crank.

So z22se crank + eagle (L61) z22se rods + wiseco (L61) z22se pistons

I have already converted a few Saab B207 engines from a 2.0 to a 2.2 and not forgetting my own 2.0 to 2.5 conversion - which also required no modification to the block for the crank / rods throw.

Each to their own, but a bog stock supercharged 2.0 B207 with some std LSJ cams in feels really nice in a VX.

You can run a B207 engine without even opening it up, with your OBDTuner ECU. See what Ultimate has done. External trigger wheel to restore the stupid standard Z22SE pattern, then Z22YH coil pack (I think it was) and away you go. There's some other minor things to do but those will apply anyway.

I would rather change crank and keep as much of the z22se stuff ie coil pack clutch fly wheel etc
And with all of that you can then just bolt a Harrop onto it ;)
Yes how's your going Dave you have been quiet
A combination of enjoying it but taking it slowly still (having to smoothly change gear into 4th rather than just banging it in for example!). I still need to map the WOT part now that I have a wide band. However, I am getting an EML which is not appearing to torque...

Is there a number at the bottom of the first screen when you read the ECU to Pc
