So the US guys run happy up to 400 on their stock lsj's.

From the lsj buildbook:

The team started with the

2.0L long block from the

Ecotec Turbo engine that was

soon to be released in the Saab

front wheel drive cars. The

forged crankshaft and connecting

rods loaded in this engine

make it a stout package that

can handle the stresses created

by the supercharger.

http://www.gmsportco..._Build_Book.pdf

So what are the chances that saab downgrated the enforced internals later in life in that block?

Only reference for failure near the 300 mark is from another GM cookbook at 300 for lsj (thus B207)

Don't push it monkeyman :angry2:

Still amazed how you talked their pricing down from ~800+VAT to this black market price... Imnotworthy

Do you know what exact spec block you get now and what's included??

Might have to order some spare blocks through Neo bros...

If this is the unbreakable R, why do you need 2? And are they that close to the garbage bin for a reason?

OK, I'm jealous, I admit it

So, if the E/L's are exactly the same as the R's (with the exception of the cams and turbo), why did you boys pay the premium for the R engine?

My concern is I want to bolt the harrop onto it and go close to 400bhp without changing anything, but can I do that?

So, who's gonna buy an R and an E, take the pistons out and compare them?

With Graeme's help, it looks like the pistons are al the same:

http://www.uksaabs.c...189145#p1189145

Question remains; will they break at 300, or can it be streched?

Well, that simply because we bought them just before :9mm:Monkeyman performed his magic trick on the Neo bros...

But still like to know what you exact engine specs you get for the 714...

The above delivered 4 are complete 2011 R's, minus the turbo inlet/outlet manifolds, the vacuum pump and the ecu/wiring.

Nope,

I'm too much of a mechanical numpty to be sure.

I am nearly sure, that for my application (of around the 280-300bhp that an M62 can handle)  the stock B207 E/L will be enough for my needs - as I'd be keeping it 2.0 with standard internals. Just means I wouldn't be bolting a Harrop on in the future...

End of next season we will know more.

that will not happen, at the bare minimum you need to fit the blower cams and whilst the engine is out not doing balancer delete would be a crime
