I think you can't go wong on neither engines.

For peace of mind..

I did already 11.000 km with my B207L and Harrop, and that includes 2 trackdays and  two 'training' day's on circuit.

No oil consumptions or problems with the engine.

With the 3.15 pulley on the Harrop and flowed head (exhaust side) and LSj cams I think I'm putting out at least 330bhp (dyno next month)

US guys do 400whp on the same engine but with turbo which gives more stress on the engine.

The REAL problem is not the pistons but the intake temperature..

Ok, officially I have a Z20NET engine, but it is identical to the B207L.

Got to pick my Saab up from the garage tomorrow anyway so have asked my specialist to investigate. He seemed to think he had the info that would tell us one way or another what differences are. I'll keep u posted folks. G

Off the phone to Neo Brothers so an update coming soon once I've been emailed with the exact figures and facts. In a nut shell the R, E, L engines might have slightly different part numbers for the pistons but they all handle the same power. These engines have the same part number for the R cams and are the same. So cams can be used for those who are keeping things more humble. List is sent so go ahead and order. I will update as and when.

So they are saying the pistons are definitely the same, and an E or L will take a harrop as easily as an R? I know many of you will be changing pistons anyway, but for those potentially keeping it as a 2.0 then it matters. Who at neos told you this - Andy, demos, nick?

They're not the same as part numbers are different on the R and shape slightly different however they take the same power. I've asked these questions for the likes of you and others mate. :) As for who I spoke to, fook knows as im next to useless at remembering. Hence why I'm waiting for an email before I start giving miss information.

No worries mate, thanks for asking. Not sure why they would use different pistons if they were both capable of stock R power, but never mind. G

Yay I've done it! Turns out I was speaking to Mr Neo himself. :)

To confirm, the engines we are supplying are the latest version of B207 engine with BIOPOWER classed as a U20NER engine (the engine can run on any mixutre of E85 fuel and 95 ron fuel, when using E85 bioethanol fuel, car can produce around 15% more power). I have attached images of the ACTUAL engine, with the reference stickers on the engines. I have also taken a photo of the exhaust manifold. The main internals such as cams & pistons will be the same as a B207R engine and this can be seen below:

Posted Image  Posted Image    Posted Image

Intake cam has part number 55560718, same a B207R

Posted Image

Exhaust cam has part number 55560717 and is the same as B207R.

Piston has part number 55555827 and is the same as the B207R, along with same crank and con rods.

You're not going to loose out. Sell your current engine and get brand new! The cost of chains and other parts out weigh the £714!
