And adding to this you will need OBD-Tuner to get the 2.0 decently running. Or otherwise a (some) trip(s) to CS for custom mapping...
Dare I say LSJ ecu swap?

So would this engine be the sort of thing I need do you reckon. Not really read into why everyone is wanting one.
Because Techie grumps on about his forged Z22SE and has put everyone off it...

The quote I had for uprating my Z22SE engine with rods. pistons head work and labour ,was far more expensive than going for a brand new Saab unit which has already had the work done including a balanced crank.

For those who don't have the DIY skills isn't there quite a bit of work to make the engine drop in? (Moving oil lines ?)
I wonder what the cost would be with that as well.
Hitec made some nice adapters. (not sure if sold seperately, but he's doing muchos conversions lately)

this engine is ideal for building a stage 3 SC engine, seeing as you already have a stage 3 SC engine, perhaps a waste of money for you

So can someone summarise the cost of keeping the Z22SE and going from stage 2 to stage 3 versus the cost of the Saab engine and going to stage 3. My stage 2 setup has a full 2.5" Tullett. Will the engine remain as a 2.2 or drop to a 2.0. I'd rather keep the standard ecu or go Dutch......
when rebuilding an engine you need to consider which other parts require replacement, as most z22se engines are now 10 - 13 years old they need components replacing to ensure a long life. They include oil pump, water pump, timing chain, bearings, seals, gaskets, bolts etc.
When you add them up it works out cheaper to buy a brand new saab engine for £930 and use it as the base for a rebuild rather than a high mileage old engine
Even with new saab engine it will stay 2.2 if you change crank, If you go for external trigger wheel option it will be 2.o ( I think ) It's cheaper to go for new saab engine rather than update z22se but I would recommend Dutch software which will get it closer to being a similar conversion cost But you have advantage of being on the Dutch software
you can either retain the 2.0 saab engine but fit some LSJ cams and fit an external trigger wheel OR convert it to a 2.2 with the z22se crank, eagle 2.2 rods and wiseco 2.2 pistons.
