Just in case you were wondering.....

a different cyllinder head assembly - exactly the same part

a different fuel rail and injectors - possibly, but they do not come with the Neo Brothers B207 engine anyway

a different valve cover - exactly the same part

a different intake manifold  - exactly the same part

a different PCV valve - exactly the same part

a different flywheel - possibly, but they do not come with the Neo Brothers B207 engine anyway

Should sound like this at cold startup.

But apparantly not always?

My engine doesn't sound like that. Forged pistons B207 with around 22k miles on it cold start on a chilly Sunday morning.

Vocky and possibly others...

Among these four:

Bare B207E/L Bare B207R

Complete B207E/L

Complete B207R

If I wanted a stronger engine for more power/reliability to replace my supercharged Z22SE, which should I get?

I'm thinking the "Bare B207E/L" since I don't want turbo and the B207R cams won't do me any good. Correct?! Any reasons why I should get one of the other ones?

I will have to move the cams, inlet manifold, fuel rail, injectors, flywheel, coil pack and of course the charger from the Z22SE, correct? What am I missing, water pump perhaps?

If I move the flywheel my old gearbox will bolt right on?!

If other swedes are interested I got quoted only £65+VAT (just under 1000sek today) for shipping which seem like a steal :)

there is no difference for the vx220 usage, just buy the basic engine.

Please remember if keeping it a 2.0 you will need another flywheel (saab is eight bolt, z22se is six bolt) and you will need to change the trigger wheel.

You can buy L61 (z22se) internal trigger wheels from the states, otherwise nothing else is available in the UK. Possibly Hitec sells something in Europe.

Coilpack needs modifying to suit the B207 cam cover and the z22se cams can be swapped over but you will need an exhaust blanking plug. Plus a coolant blanking plug for the head and an oilway blanking plug for the block. Also required if not using the vacuum pump is another oilway blanking plug and an auxillary blanking plate.

Excellent. Thanks so much. This renders some follow up questions of course. Please bare with me :)

Regarding flywheel and trigger wheel, what are my options.

It sounds like I could use the crank and flywheel from my old engine? That would mean a split engine and using an old crank.

Could I use a Saab flywheel with the gearbox/clutch that is in my car already? If yes I still need to split the engine to use the L61 internal trigger wheel?

What's the difference between the B207 trigger wheel and the Z22SE? One internal and on external? Why can't one use the Saab trigger?

I guess the easy way regarding coil pack is to get a Saab one?! What is involved in modifying the one I have ?

Are the B207 cams totally useless in SC configuration or is it a must to change them?

I've searched a bit but can't find a thread with this sort of basic decision questioning. Is there one?

I believe the flywheel is just from a c20let and any F23 clutch (even your original z22se)

Trigger wheel requires crank out, so you might as well convert it to a 2.2 using your crank (use the new saab bearings) and a set of eagle steel z22se rods and your z22se pistons with new rings (or wiseco pistons)

z22se = 5 + 2 trigger wheel

b207 = 60 - 2 trigger wheel

Coil pack must be the z22se item, you cannot use the b207 coil on plug items

B207 cams are slightly milder than z22se and can be used if you wish.

Any link to where you found the "US" L61 5+2 internal triggerwheel? Never found/saw one, so we made one for Dominiques B207...

Is it possible to use B207 block and Z22SE head? What is the advantage of swapping the head?

z22se head is weak, if you over tighten a spark plug you can destroy the head. Thus the B207 cylinder head is considered an upgrade, it is 'sand cast' and not 'lost foam'.

But you can fit a z22se cylinder head to a B207 block, the block is pretty much identical to the z22se, there are a few minor differences such as - turbo oil return hole drilled in block, under piston oil jets are fitted, it has an external oil cooler as standard.

Hi Guys,

im searching for someone who can built me a B207R for my DBilas Turbo Z22SE Setup.

I'm thinking about to swap the old Z22SE against a new built B207R with Eagle rods and wiseco (or thing else) pistons.

Compression ratio should be about 8.5-9.0:1. The engine should fit plug 'n play. So if I have understood correctly, it mus be built with an old crank from a z22se, right?

I have contacted hitec here in germany. But i got no response

It would be great if someone could make me an offer for the above described specs.

Sorry, for my bad English

regards Rocky

If your dbilas kit won't exceed 300 bhp, you can also just drop it in like that without the need of forged internals. Otherwise Vocky is your man.
