normally when the a20nft is mentioned it refers to the astra J vxr VVT engine
But from your photos it is a late spec B207 engine
I wonder if you have a GEN 3 block

My thoughts (or confusion) exactly.
That would be awesome. 500HP here we come
Take the head off and see if it's reinforced. Mhh...

If it's a GEN 3 block I'm buying a couple of engines

if they have the extra webbing on the cylinder bores then they are not GEN 2

What's mine likely to be vocky Can I push it past 400 ??if they have the extra webbing on the cylinder bores then they are not GEN 2

A "Gen 3" has reinforced cilinder walls and a sandcast block.
This surface finish does not look like sandcast:
Very curious what pistons etc. this A20NFT block has fitted. And what code is stamped into the oil filter housing?

the block in TFD's photos is a GEN 2, the A20NFT vvt engine block is cast different and has no blanking plugs below the exhaust

The 'real' A20NFT also has a different coolant cross-over pipe and thermostat housing to accommodate the K04 turbo gubbins.. I think GM have sticker issues.

Take the head off TFD.
We need to know if Saab bodged their head on an NFT, or if we are looking at sticker creativity.

The 'NFT' and 'NHT' tags are slightly interchangeable in Europe it seems. The NHT is the Gen 2 bottom end (same as B207 really, and the older LNF engine used in the US) but will have different pistons and a lower CR (9.2:1) than the B207, and I don't think its any stronger than the B207.
If you had a borescope, you could eyeball the pistons through the sparkplug hole and see if its fitted with the direct injection pistons. I strongly doubt it will be though, and if it was I'd be sending it back!

That's just a standard B207 piston. The 'real' A20NFT pistons have a little bowl in the top to aid fuel dispersal from the direct injector: https://www.cobaltss...zpsawjmqxvn.jpg

Might have just bought one too..
For info, they will supply a new OEM belt tensioner for £35.95 + vat

Ordered from Neos Thursday. Delivered Friday.
Stripped on Saturday (with head on the kitchen table for some ex. port tickling - don't say it)
As above, I can confirm the supplied 'A20NFT' engines (mine had the same stickers as TFD) are just B207 engines (Gen 2 blocks / pistons etc.). The ID markings on the oil filter also have 'B207' and 'A20NFT' marked on them.
