Yeah, B207 needs a few tweaks to fit.
Using the Saab head is already documented in several topics. The oil cooler adapter can be bought or original Saab modded (see my LSJ thread)
You need to use a water thermostat housing of the Z22SE and off course a crank trigger modification for Z22SE ecu.

Just adding to this; if you come to Zandvoort next week you can see 2 running B207's yourself; a stock one with M62 and a 300++ Harrop breathing version.

these are pretty much all the parts which probably need replacing on a higher mileage z22se engine to make it 'as good as new'
90571925 crank pulley oil seal - £7.58 + vat 90325572 crankshaft rear oil seal - £21.66 + vat 93166701 oil pump - £262.72 + vat 24435052 oil pump gasket - £10.08 + vat 55563405 water pump chain kit - £122.21 + vat 55570337 cam chain kit - £152.10 + vat 90537241 valve stem seals x 16 - £38.08 + vat 9198195 oil cooler adaptor seals x 2 - £6* + vat 93175493 oil filter - £4.93 + vat 12630084 water pump - £54 + vat 90537811 thermostat - £9.02 + vat 9230949 exhaust manifold gasket - £5.71 + vat 90537691 head bolts x 10 - £21.70 + vat 12786262 inlet manifold gasket (head to inlet) - saab B207L or Vectra z20net - £6* + vat 93175913 head gasket - saab B207L or Vectra z20net - £39.02 + vat 12591093 big end bearings - £30* + vat 12591092 main bearings - £50* + vat 9194698 cam followers x 16 - £375.94
spark plugs - £25
rebore - £120 + vat
16 x valve guides - £320 + vat
total : £1937.84
For the brand new saab b207 engine you would require;
9198195 oil cooler adaptor seals x 2 - £6* + vat
90537691 head bolts x 10 - £21.70 + vat
9230949 exhaust manifold gasket - £5.71 + vat
93175913 head gasket - saab B207L or Vectra z20net - £39.02 + vat
12786262 inlet manifold gasket (head to inlet) - saab B207L or Vectra z20net - £6* + vat
NGK BKR7EIX Iridium spark plugs - for Saab /z20net - £25
Depending on whether you use LSJ cams or z22se cams - cam blank £50
Oilway blank - £50
saab head temperature sender blanking plug - £0 = use an old water pump drain plug.
secondhand z22se crank - £50
Plus you get brand new; saab sump, saab head, sodium filled valves, roller rockers, crank pulley,
etc
total : £930 + £269.12 = £1199.12
* = cannot find a price on the net, so 'guesstimate'
parts from the usa required for both engines - exact cost varies;
1 x set of Eagle Rods 1 x Wiseco 8.9:1 Piston kit 1 x pair of SC Comp Cams
So a saving of £738.72, give or take a few quid, if you purchase a brand new saab engine and convert it to a 2.2 stage 3 SC instead of converting a z22se to stage 3 SC
If you wish to keep it a 2.0 then it's a saving of £861.59 plus whatever a set of eagle steel rods and wiseco pistons cost, you would however need to fit some LSJ cams and an external trigger wheel.

obviously if you want to use a saab head and sump on a z22se rebuild you need to add another £275 to your total, which makes the difference about £1014

Does that not create the same piston slap and oil consumption story as the current stage III guys have?
The oem saab rods can do 400, and and the pistons 300 isch.
Only the harrop guys would need to consider different pistons.
