Lsj comp come in 3 stages and you then won't need to adapt your B207 head to make normal comps fit.

As a bit of an FYI, and to get it put down in this thread, the info below came from Vocky

"the only parts the saab 2.0 requires over a 2.2 saab is a V6 flywheel from a Vectra (I believe it's the same as the C20LET flywheel) some decent cams (the saab are shite for bhp) and the external trigger wheel.

Other than that both the 2.0 and 2.2 saab require a blanking plate for the exhaust cam auxillary housing and a blanking plate for the oil filter housing. Both are available from Hitech in Germany or I can make them from alloy plate."

So seems to me that the Saab 2.0 option doesn't look that bad?

If all you want is 300bhp then the 2.0 saab engine can do that with some CompCams LSJ camshafts fitted.

If you want a high power Harrop stage 4 then really you need to convert it to a 2.2 for the extra 'cubic centimetres' + 'torque'

Mr vocky, Do you have a place to get comp cams from struggling to find the right ones, Also would it be possible to go for a 2.4 or 2.5 using this saab unit without any extra boring etc

You cannot make this a 2.4 or 2.5 without fitting sleeves, which is crazy money. My 2.5 block was £3.3k in parts

Do you have a place to get comp cams from struggling to find the right ones,

LSJ cams are a direct fit into the saab head and do not require an additional cam blank

stage 2 LSJ cams would probably be the same as z22se Blower cams, but Exmantaa may know better :poke:

standard saab cams are shite for bhp, Mr Techie tried some Aero cams and lost bhp over standard z22se cams.

CompCams are performance camshafts, their LSJ cams will create more bhp and fit perfectly to the saab head.

Which, in a nutshell, probably describes my situation/thoughts perfectly.

Especially when you consider the harrop guys, on their current 2.2 engines, only (I know, I can't believe I said 'only' as well) seem to be getting around 350ish bhp. Seems like a lot of extra money for that last 50-70bhp.

that is the problem with tuning any engine, the more bhp you want from it, the more it costs

Yup, and like the stage 2 turbo versus stage 4 turbo it's the law of diminishing returns. Always a sweet spot early on where you get a lot of extra bang for not a lot of buck, past that it's a downwards spiral of bankruptcy and unhappy partners!

I thought I had until, or at least near, the end of the month?

I think I am, but I've still not driven a charged car - though I think that'll be of little real significance to the outcome. At the moment I'm 80% committed, but will need a few weeks to confirm. If I'm properly in I'm properly in, cash waiting.

For a VX/Speedster the ~300HP is really quite sufficient. I have around 282 with my bone stock 2.0 LSJ (= Saab B207) on the stock LSJ cams, a stock 2.2 manifold + 2.5 Tullett backbox and only a 3.15" pulley. And that was on a non-optimised tune...

With a decent 4-1 header, some exh. port work, cams & valvesprings you will have your 300+HP, but it's also about the drive and feel of the revvy 2.0 layout.

On the other hand, a Harrop 2.0 @7700rpm is quite mental... (at least untill the cat melts... )

But this engine will also have problems with high IAT's, especially on smaller pulleys. I reached ~80*C on Zandvoort last month that robbed some power, so water injection to the resque.

(I'm really very curious to what temperatures you guys reach on track with your smaller pulleys... )

To be fair, Rob's harrop destroyed the cheap cat tullet put's in, and it was officially a cat for a vx220 NA setup.
