If you can get your money back and want to re-use your old engine I have a new chain kit you can have. It's a pattern part so not a permanent solution but will give you a few years to save for rebuild or new engine? Also have the chain cover gasket you can have :)

Thanks Stuwy but I'm not putting the old engine back in, I'd be back to square one. I've started so I'll finish!

Really sorry to hear this Ali. If you haven'y already, might I suggest you do your communication with the supplier in writing, and indicate that you are rejecting the goods under the sale of goods act.

Hasn't Vocky got a lump kicking about suitable for Ali?

The problem is all the donor cars with this type of engine are pretty old and have done intergalactic mileage. A crashed VX might yield a low mileage one.

Nail on the head ....

The exact reason I recommended the stage 3 SC guys buy a brand new saab lump for £930

Lets face it a used engine for £500 still needs both chains replacing and possibly the water pump to, using genuine parts adds another £350 to that, so £850 for an old engine which still might smoke or use oil.

get an old z22se engine, whip out the crank, rods and pistons, fit into a saab engine using the new rings and bearings, gives you a virtually brand new engine

Sometimes I think you guys mistake me for someone who has a pot of cash sat waiting to be spent on the car?!?

Buying something else isn't an option until I get the money back for this one!

quite the opposite, we are all trying to help you get Brum back on the road :grouphug:

I am merely pointing out the fact that good z22se engines are hard to find these days and other options are out there

£550, if I get that back then that's exactly what I have to spend on the next solution.

Yeaaaah nice one Steve!

It'll all be fine i'm sure, i'll try another engine from this breaker if needs be.  If they send me another dud then we can all go round there and throw stuff at them.
