I guess the only up side of the uk lotus centre is if the car is a reasonable Vx with low miles and still running someone near could go and have a look and listen as I think there are a few local members and note the engine number And whilst they don't have a good reputation I am guessing the guys alli bought this knackered lump off are not looking at being too reliable are they ?

I wasn't trying to spend your money that you don't have at the moment. I was just wondering if you have a feel for whether a breakers are more likely to have one, how readily they are available and what sort of price?

There's loads knocking about, I'll deal with it when i'm in a position to though. If I found something suitable now, I don't think me putting dibs on it would be enough to secure the deal

they'll be getting a call on Monday to discuss, the car is going to a local garage this weekend to get checked over.

There is a vx220 engine on eBay 58000 Sounds like a car which is being broke

I have a good head (fnnaaarr) in the loft if you go down the repair route Ali.  Back around now so might be able to help out with some tinkering.  In hospital sat though so it'd have to be next weekend.

Thanks for the offer, Matt. How is the eye now? The VX went this afternoon, the garage is going to check it over and speak to the breaker. I should be in a better position in the next few days to come up with a plan. TBH though, I think i'm going to just pay them to fit a replacement if it comes to it, i'm all out of motivation now. John(Turbo), Dan and I put in a lot of time and effort swapping the engine and box out and I just can't face doing it again. I also don't want to take the p*ss, i'll soon run out of friends
