285's are not necessary for a stage 4 motor. You'll need much much more power to make use of them. In fact I'll go as far to suggest that grip will be so good your car will feel underpowered B)

I had Rota Attacks on my 106 Gti about 10 years ago.  Very light but made of chocolate, bent one slightly riding a not very hefty kerb at Anglesey Circuit.

Have you driven it like that ?

 

Does it drive or do the rear arches need made bigger ?

 

Like the wheels,  I bet once its finished it will finish the car off

Did you need hub adapters? I want some rotas but thought they only did them in 5x114.5?

when I was looking for a set of new wheels I was looking into Rotas but they don't come small enough.. so unless you want to modify you nice new bodywork??

A lot of the jap wheels are too wide for our little cars :( I'm sure you can get the rota grids in a 7.5j 17"? Not sure about the et though

yeah, they do 5x100 in that one size, but the give away is Mr Ash has clearly staggered fitments. Jap redrill methinks.
