I've recently developed a couple of issues with my 2001 supercharged VX. I was leaving silverstone the other day after a show and got out onto the motorway, put my foot down then went to change gear and lost all throttle. The car just revved down and sat revving from idle up to about 2k and back. I turned the car off and on and it was fine. This also threw the EML light on. This has happened a few times since. Seems to be when it's cold only. The fault codes I got were: Code 1: N/A Code 2: P1514 Code 3: P1612 This is coupled with the car not staying cool. Even when it's just ticking over it heats up. Could the two be combined?!

I forgot to mention there is a real hesitation when blipping the throttle and quite juddery when pulling away and changing gears when going slowly can't be noticed at speed

Map sensor is an easy swap.  Checking the connections in the loom plugs / throttle plug / pedal plug is free but can be a bit more akward.  Dont stress just yet.  :)

Try to swap it with with someone near by to rule it out.

For spraying the connectors behind the header tank, just do a search.

Update, for the last couple of weeks I haven't had the Fml or any error codes coming up. The car is now no longer heating up since changing the header tank. Only one problem persists ans that is the hesitant throttle, it's driving me crazy!
