So im looking install my battery cut off switch, but I dont have a clue where to put it, or which type to buy?

 

The car will mainly be used on track and the occasional weekend once done

 

As it will be sat in the garage, the switch would be handy and work well as some added security

 

Im not sure whether to mount it external or internal, and if to put it in the cockpit, or under the bonnet

 

Any help would be great

You dont actually need one for track day use, the easiest to install would be one of the wallet busting electronic types

The cheaper alternaties mean extending the big battery cables to wherever  the operating  switch is mounted - not easy on these cars; the extra joints etc can give voltage drop and slow the starter a bit , especially after theyve got wet a few times!

 

 

To be of use in a track type incident  the switch needs to  be on the dash or readily visable on the outsdie of the car.

 

 

If its just for "home use" you might get a battery terminal mounted handle type switch.

IMO I would mount it inside the cabin so you have easy access. If it's under the bonnet it's a pita to keep on opening the bonnet etc to switch it on/off.

Ive never looked into the electronic kits, just the cheaper key switches...i might opt for that option and stick the buttons in the cockpit

 

Anyone have any experience with said kits?

I can only say the electronic kits are widely used , a friend with a sprinting Westfield uses one with no problems . You can have more than one stop button I believe which is handy
