Just email Peter to verify that you're on a 2.2.

The dutch heads are FINALLY back from the porter guy.

Especially the exhaust ports needed quite some work, as the flow seems to be designed for turbo.

We can also finally start thinking about putting it back together. :tt:

Happy Days.

Chis have you got your scan gauge set up to show long term fuel trims? If so it will show large positive increases during the first 50 mile running in. +10 to +25 if the map is lean. See below for scanguage info: https://www.verboom....016/xgauge.html

I've dropped peter a email just to confirm the map, I'm reluctant to use scan gauge other than reading fault codes I keep getting misfires when it's connected not many but it does happen

Maybe because of your cams. You can ask peter to make it idle in Alpha-n mode.

You already made a log? gives you a lot of info.

What headgasket did you fit? Wiseco compression is with a 1mm gasket if I remember correctly...

Saab gasket is about 1mm, so you're on 8.9CR.

Next time/engine fit a Z22 gasket that is ~0.5mm and raises CR to ~9.3 on the Wiseco's. Better for an SC... :glare:

i thought it was better to have lower compression on forced induction because of thermal effects, ( only what i have read)

if you can give me a short lesson on compression i would appreciate it.

An SC is very bad at delivering higher boost pressure, so the quest with an SC is to make your power with at least boost as possible. There is something mentioned in an SC thread of someone who lost some power after fitting the low CR WSiseco's and had to change pulleys to get that back...

Ok so if I made 300 powers on a 3.1 with high Comp & 300 powers on 3.0 low comp Which would run cooler

The larger the pulley the cooler it will run as the SC is making less boost. Not sure where the sweet spot will be regarding compression as the higher the compression the less advance you can run. I guess we will find out with the various builds going on at the minute. May be I should put a SC on my high compression build running low boost to see what happens?

just had a reply from peter concerning the leaner map,

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the update.

You are right, the new calibration is a little bit leaner. The reason for this is I want to be sure it is not over fueling and washing away the oil film from the cylinder walls which would be very bad for a new engine. The ECU will automaticaly compensate if the calibration is to lean so there is no risk for running lean. Having said this I would advise to do an easy fuel learning as soon as possible, so no full throttle or high revs necessary, just cruising with the ECU in fuel learning mode. Also in this mode the ECU does correct the fuel mixture so no lean running and you will have a decent calibration for further running in your new engine.

I am very interested in how the stage 2 cams are working on your engine if you have some log files or fuel learning files I would be very happy to have a look at them.

 which sounds ok to me

No plans to sell the VX so you never know. I don't like doing things the easy way so will probably end up putting a Rotrex on just to be different!
